Re: Hitachi L32S504 - Dead, No Power, No LED light

Yes. Tv was unplugged. This just gets weirder by the second I guess. I have to find the schematic to get the value of that cap. Unless I can find a good pic of the board on eBay or shopjimmy. Is there anything else I can check before either replacing the two parts or breaking down and buy a new board? This is now very intriguing to me and I want to find the problem. My luck it's probably the microprocessor or something and all this will be for naught.

OK, so right now the pad (input pin) of that IC which the leg is no longer there shows < 1 Ohms? If that is the case you will have to find out where the shorts is at at this point. You will need to trace out that trace to see where it goes and what other components are connected to that input pad, it is not going to be easy since that input Voltage can have lots of connections.

Sounds like a fun challenge. I will trudge along these next few days and see what I can come up with. Thanks for all your help so far.

I don't know if this would help or not, but I did find a service manual for the Hitachi L42S504, not the L32S504. The main board looks very similar, from what I can tell. Also, my broken Insigna, which is a 42", is almost identical to your board, minus U702. U702 on my board is next to U703. I'm having similar problems with my board too. Maybe you can use this service manual to figure out what the value should be of the capacitor that's missing. Hope it helps and good luck.

I don't know if you're still working on this or not, but I believe I figured out what was wrong with my board, it was U505. It very well could be the same problem with yours. The reason I think this is because the voltage regulator on your board that reads around 0 Ohm against ground for both input and output pins. With the regulator removed, on my board, they both read around 0 ohm. The input pin is 3V3STB and the Output pin is 1V8STB. The only place I could find in the schematics where the two met was U505. Just a thought.
