Tom, I was thinking that too, but when I accessed the service menu to see if I can adjust the panel options to adjust the format/size the menu was all in hexadecimals and abbreviations so I didn't take that any further as I didn't want to go in blind and adjust something and mess it up further.

Should he at least test the Gamma voltages to verify? beside this is AUOPTO panel/t-con

Re: Toshiba 37HL17 Seine board questions and Issues!

          Hello

I am bumping this up since I had some extra time to dissect this down to the T-con and snap some photos of it.

I noticed that the 2 boards with the perma attached ribbon cables on them were warped, is this normal? they seem like really thin PCB's I did flatten them back out and have them resting on the plastic brace they looked to be sitting on at one point by cutting up a cardboard coaster and wedging those board flat again.

It didn't fix anything as I thought the one might have been too close to the metal shell of the panel and getting some sort of interference.

Anyway here is the T-con board. I am new to all this so if someone would/could spoon feed me on how to check the gamma with a DMM please! What settings, what to probe ect I am all ears!

          Thanks again in advance!

Also if someone has access to a service manual for this unit that would be great! I would like to try the service menu idea someone had and try and change the panel settings to see if that fixes it before spending money on a new part/repair.

Re: Toshiba 37HL17 Seine board questions and Issues!

So I tinkered with the option 1 2 3 4 5 and I changed some values but it didn't seem to change anything. At one point the panel shut off in the middle of changing a value before I had the chance to write it down. It would only stay on for a minute and the yellow/green light both flashed at the same time. I finally got it to stay on and adjusted the value back to what I thought it was.

I am confused as to the service manual says to push P on the remote but my remote doesn't have P on it so I am not sure if p means something else.

Lol I am at a loss!

Re: Toshiba 37HL17 Seine board questions and Issues!

                  Fixed!

So to make a long story short, I took all the settings via service menu and reset them to default as listed above, this alone did not really do much but what it triggered as a change in the RGB cut and drive options, so I took each item and adjusted them till the colors just snapped together on the cut settings, I still had a tiny bit of sparkling so I tweaked them a little bit more and boom it was back to normal.

I also adjusted the drive settings down a bit as the colors were super saturated and I think I got it looking pretty good. Might borrow a tuning bluray and do a bit more color tuning.

But as far as it goes it's done!

I think what happend someone swapped out a mainboard and turned it on and noticed the solarized picture and thought it was done for and ditched it at the thrift store. This was one of the first LCD panels I bought when I started this repair/ recap hobby so I am glad to see this one fixed. I really like the toshiba Regza display, I have a 32" in the bedroom it is one of the best looking LCD panels for its time.

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions!

If anyone is interested in my settings for future reference for the 37HL17 I can do so.

                    Hi Shinju,

I wondering if you can post the setting you used on your 37HL17. I think my friends TV has the same problem. His panel is the AUO Optronics. I hope its the same as your set. I don't have the service manual so I don't know exactly how the hex values are adjusted for the settings. Thank you for your help.
