The new set of the LED may have bad solder joints on the connector pins that join the two strip together.
Glad to see it is working.

Re: Hitachi LE55A6R9 LED Issue or?

Oh wow, can't believe I found a thread about the same exact model TV, and with a very similar problem... and people who actually seem to know what they're talking about

My situation: a TV at a friend's house died a week ago. Hitachi LE55A6R9 LCD TV, powers on, switches inputs/sources, and there is an image on the screen if I shine a flashlight onto it. But the LCD backlight is dead, all black.

I have a digital multimeter, and a soldering iron, and know how to desolder / solder in basic electronic components. But I have no clue which components are responsible for this failure. Also, I'm willing to order replacement parts, but I don't know which parts to order. (I'm not there to keep messing around with additional tests).

Not really looking to make this a complicated project, just doing a favor for a friend who's on a limited budget and doesn't want to throw out a $ 600 TV.

So, in a situation like this, where the backlight is totally dead - what should I look for as far as replacement parts? Either an entire board, or solderable components? (I doubt I can replace SMD devices, but standard solder connections shouldn't be a problem).

Also, if it's a matter of replacing individual components, I'd really appreciate any heads-up about potentially dangerous capacitors...

Any advice would be much appreciated!

In a dark room do backlights flash on when first powered on?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.
