Hi, I am new here. The problem is that when I plug it in all the voltages are present on the psb except bl_on and dim. I think I should only have the 5v stand by when only plugged in. The power switch does nothing it acts like it is stuck on. The tv does nothing no picture, sound or back light. soon as I plug it in the mainboard gets hot. I have to unplug tv to turn off. The number of the mainboard is 75024142. Thank you

Re: Toshiba 46g310u mainboard problems
A quick search of the usual sources turned up nothing for me. If the main is getting hot it points to a short on that board, you can use canned air held upside down to freeze section of the board and see which components warm up first, they are likely shorted. If we get some close up pictures, we can point out the likely suspects for further testing.Liberating magic smoke one part at a time

Re: Toshiba 46g310u mainboard problems
Thank you, I don't have a way to take pictures, but the parts that get hot are a G1084 LDO adjustable regulator and a 10uf/6.3v cap. They will burn my finger. they are next to one of the processors video i think it gets hot to. I am going to find a new mainboard. Thank you again.

Re: Toshiba 46g310u mainboard problems
First remove the 10u/6.3V cap to isolate it -- sounds like a tantalum and they do like to fail shorted. Sometimes explosively! Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Toshiba 46g310u mainboard problems
Thanks Tom66, The cap looks like a small can it sits next to the G1084 regulator. When I plug in the tv to check the voltage on the psu all voltages are there I think that the 5v standby is the only voltage I should have until I press the power button. The only way to remove power is to unplug tv.

Re: Toshiba 46g310u mainboard problems
Yes just dont leave it on for a long time with it removed. You should be able to tell if it was causing your fault if the reg stays cool, although it may have burned out the reg as well.

Re: Toshiba 46g310u mainboard problems
Thanks Caleb, The cap in the photo is not the one I have, mine is a surface mount radial can silver in color. I plugged the tv back in and the g1084 regulator got very hot. This is the mainboard # 75024142. Maybe someone can look it up to get a picture of it.I have no way to post picture. Thank you for reply
