    Re: HP BIOS unlock tool

For those wishing to try desoldering / soldering their flash chips, here is some research I did into the sort of soldering temperatures these chips are ok with.

    [code]
Key temps and times for e.g. Winbond 128 SPI:
85°C - max operating temp of SPI chip
150°C - max storage temp of SPI chip
??? - SPI chip max soldering temp "compliant with JEDEC Standard J-STD-20C"
    138°C - Melting point of 42/58 tin/bismuth solder eg 'Mechanic V4B45'
    183°C - Melting point of 63/37 lead/tin solder
    190°C -...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hey gang! I've been a frequent visitor to badcaps.net, but only now registered to this site. Worked at Armco Steel, General Electric, Chrysler Huntsville Electronics, and finished two years ago at Battelle Memorial Institute in Huntsville. Retired now but keeping busy with ham radio (KU4AA) and my test...

  • Re: Frako caps in Grundig VS620 vcr

I think your Canon is way better than my old HP (almost everything is better than a HP camera ) and my father's Fujifilm: the latter boast a wide wideangle (equivalent to a 24 mm in 35 mm world), but pictures are blurred, vignetting is evident and sometimes autofocus don't work as expected. Damn cheap lenses ...

Color is something different from lens quality: films are based on chemical reactions so there is some degradation over time and, if you notice it, usually colors are related to fashon at the time of shooting.
