  • Re: Hans HG281D yellowed screen on top/center

I had a problem with mine, with the monitor flicking on and off, but unfortunately when I was fixing it the flat cable going directly into the backlight (from the logic board into the screen)? and it's been solid red ever since. I stopped replacing Caps but I would love to fix it if possible. Is it like this, or is it just more of a tint to the picture in certain sections?

  • Re: Hanns G HG281D 2 second black screen and parts help

I'd love to say it was but at the moment only one pin(if you would call it that) is slightly "unsupported." I suppose my statement was more geared towards taking it apart and putting it back together will lead to a new cable.

I was wondering if this can be traced directly back to the logic boards, or should I start replacing parts on the two side circuit boards....

Have you seen any problems with the image displaying a solid red color? It's almost like I have 2 seconds of red then to black.

It's like to narrow it down 100% and it seems like a logic board problem but at first the monitor would just randomly turn off.

  • Re: Hanns-G HG281D, LCD Monitor no power

I know there are different models of the logic board but are their different versions of power supply boards? I happened to order (1) 1000uF 35v and (2) 1000uF 25v capacitors going off a list, but have (2) 1000uF 35v capacitors on the power supply board.

I was told I could use the 25v capacitors but would rather repair it properly. If it is just an overkill I'd like to use what I have and get this thing fix.

On a side note, after replacing just the one capacitor my power issues went away but the screen was solid...

Thanks for the updates guys, I appreciate it. I guess I should have just replaced them while it was open. It seems the cable that connects to the actual display is incredibly brittle and chunks are breaking off every time it is taken apart....

Thanks, what do you think about the 25v capacitors on the power supply board?...

I went off the list of parts from several different posts regarding this monitor and basically found I need to re-purchase about half of the capacitors. Obviously I would not blame anyone buy myself, but I have seen several mentions for a 1000 uF 25v capacitor when my board has a 680 uF 25v cap.

I also purchased several others that are 120 uF replacing 100uF.

I'm not worried about the above, but I've read higher voltage doesn't matter as much as the uF. Am I overreacting?

    In case...

  • Re: Hanns-G HG281D, LCD Monitor no power

I unfortunately just started having a problem with power remaining on but the video signal dropping off for a couple seconds. At the moment it is completely random, but after reading page 5 and looking at the controller board, I found a burnt(ish) section.

I tested all of the capacitors on both boards, and although I don't have an ESR meter, I found the 1000uf 35v capacitor on the power supply board reads up to 4x the rating.

On the logic board all of the 10uf and 100uf capacitors are up in the 470uf and 580uf...

  • Re: Samsung Syncmaster 214T

Thanks for the link. I had been searching just for the model number and never saw this information. It looks like I possibly need to replace the large capacitor and/or some of the diodes. I'll have to double check with another multimeter to make sure. The diodes overload on both ends and the cap barely holds what it should...

It's funny that you mention that, because I actually did that before.
I didn't look into it further, because I got the other monitor working with its board instead.

I actually don't get 2 seconds to black. The screen will literally flash on and off immediately. Is the ccfl an expensive replacement?...

  • Re: Samsung Syncmaster 214T

Hey guys, thanks for the information. I have two Samsung 214t monitors that both died around the same time, and was able to repair one last week with this info.
Unfortunately the other monitor still only flashes for a second and remains on with a blank screen.
Hopefully it isn't a sign of something major that is broke and I thought I wouldn't give up yet.

I did see another person with this problem, but he didn't provide any information other than it being a green - 3 Amp Pico Fuse with a picture of the item.
    The only thing...
