Does single sided RAM alwas = high density?
In researching, I have found that double sided RAM is generally associated with low density, while single sided is associated with high density RAM. My ASUS K8N is currently running (1) 512 double sided stick, and (2) 256 single sided sticks, and the PC is showing roughly 1 Gb at 333Hz.
Furthermore, my MB manual does not indicate the density required for this board, however there is a chart showing "memory configurations" for double sided and single sided chips. I have double, single, single, and it is running 333 just as the manual states. The "DDR Qualified Vendors List"...Last edited by asand1; 08-14-2014, 08:10 PM.

Pair of Dell SNPJ0203C/1G in an ASUS K8N?
Hey all, do you think Dell SNPJ0203C/1G
https://www.txmicro.com/Dell-SNPJ020...Hz-p-5234.html
would run well in an Asus K8N Motherboard?
ASUS K8N Specs - CNET
I can get a pair for $20 local. I am reinventing my PC with Linux Mint Xfce ( a few weeks ago really) and would like an extra gig of ram. I currently have 1 512, and 2 256 sticks of mixed brands and speeds. It does show one gig at 333, so it works, but a pair of PC3200 would be really nicehttps://Hey all, do you think Dell S...234.htmlLast edited by asand1; 08-12-2014, 04:39 PM.

Re: ~13.8V MOT power supply
I already have a very good battery and charger, But I want 13-14V @ 50A+ continuous power out of a supply that I built myself.
Mainly, I want to do this because I like to tinker and want to say to myself "I built this"....

Re: ~13.8V MOT power supply
I am currently running my FILs' Astron RS 35A, prior to that I had a 1200mA wall wort and 55aH AGM. I just want to build my own PS and give his back. I also want this to be a DIY CHEAP project. I've also read in various HAM & CB forums that the major base amp MFGs actually use the same microwave oven transformers (MOT)s frames in their products. 1 MOT supposedly produces ~70A in this application.
I have looked online for a circuit diagram with thelm723 and 2n3771 pieces and have come up empty to this point. Could you link...Last edited by asand1; 11-17-2013, 01:25 PM.

~13.8V MOT power supply
I am considering building a power supply in the 50-80A range for running CB gear in my garage. It would be simple two hand-wound secondaries of ~13 turns each, dual rectifier bridges mounted on a CPU cooler, and large cap ~1000uf above 50V.
My question is, should I remove the magnetic shunts or I leave them in?
Here is a simple unregulated supply I just threw together this evening.

Samsung LN40A450C1DXZA White bar
I just picked up a Samsung LN40A450C1DXZA TV for $20.00. I don't even know if its LCD or Plasma. The left side of the screen has a solid white bar, approximately 5 inches wide. I'm going to open it up in the next couple of days and start checking caps and cables and whatnot.
If anyone has any ideas for a likely culprit, Id appreciate some pointers.

Repairing shunt in DVOM??
I have a generic DVOM that is having issues. It wont read volts or Ohms, but it will read zero Ohms when shorting the leads. The shunt inside looks to be burnt. Can I use solid copper wire to replace it?...

Re: Sparkle power trouble
I decided to scrap it. in the process of removing components and wires, I never did find an obvious 3.3v sense wire hole. I did however find a +5sb hole.I pick up another soon and be more cautious. thank you for all the replies.

Re: Sparkle power trouble
Unfortunately I desoldered and removed them. There was a 24 gauge brown wire I removed before I really knew what I was doing. I will post what labels I can find tonight. Hopefully I can figure it out with help, this looks like a well built supply and I'd hate to scrap it....

Re: Sparkle power trouble
Lol with dept, bills, and kids theres nothing left for my hobbies even working full time at $12+/Hr.
I connected loads to the 3.3v and 5v rails (bulbs) and the light and it runs. As soon as i connect a load to the 12v rail it shuts off. It powered the CB just fine with a jumper on the green wire before I started cutting.
Does anyone know what the label on the board for the 3.3v sense wire would be?
I guess I'll just have to scrounge another PSU....

Re: Sparkle power trouble
Ok If I unplug the AC cord for 5 seconds, The unit will come back on. If I apply any load the the 12 rail it powers back off. Sounds like this;
The bad part is, I desoldered the small leads; brown, white, blue, and purple I believe. I soldered the brown lead back into the "PG" hole and then to the 5v leads.
Still not staying on. Unit is Sparkle Power ATX-300GT, and does have two large rectifiers....

Re: Sparkle power trouble
Ok, it was miraculously running again today at 11.2v on the dvm. As soon as I touched the yellow and black wires to the leads in my CB, it went dead again.
It does not have a rectifier bridge, but rather a couple diodes. How much of a load would I need on the 5v rail? A 3v led work?

Sparkle power trouble
I was in the process of converting a Sparkle power ATX power supply for use with my CB radio. The unit was running at 11.5v (kinda low?) and I decided to check the 12v yellow leads with a test light to check for higher/lower Amp rails. when I did theis I killed the unit. Now it will spin the fan half a revolution and not poer up. What did I kill, and should a test light on the 12v rail have killed it? Doesnt 11.5v seem low? Can a pot(s) be adjusted to get 13-14v? I will post a model # after work. Thank you for any and all replies.

Should be high quality. China has a lot of experience selling us stuff with lead in it (mostly paint on children's toys)....

LG dreyer control board no powah.
I have an LG frontloading dreyer #dre2050W (210v)that doesnt turn on when hitting the power button, however the light inside the drum is on. Reserching leadsd me to believe the control board #EBR36858801 itself is bad, as it is a common problem. Looking at grainy pics on the web, I can see a transformer, caps, and maybe a bridge rectifier, on the board. What would you focus on first, assuming the power to the board is good? Ill tear into it and post pics tonight....Last edited by asand1; 12-27-2011, 01:59 PM.
