Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
The instructions are:

Read your bios chip and create a dump file
Do it again 2-3 times and compare the files to verify integrity
Patch the dump
Write the patch to your laptop
DISCONNECT HARD DRIVE
TAPE DOWN ANTI-TAMPER SWITCH (IF PRESENT)
Boot laptop and follow the steps in the first post (or see directions by executing autopatch --howto)
WRITE ORIGINAL BIOS BACK TO THE MACHINE!
So the answer to your question "Haven't tried hard disk thing but will it help...

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
There is no need to merge files, and no need to clean ME.
The autopatcher is reported to be working on T440 just fine. Use it on the 4MB dump. It will skip the NVRAM cleanup. That's fine. Then go ahead and flash it. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! remove the hard disk, tape down the anti-tamper switch (if you have one).
ALSO MAKE SURE YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A SUPERVISOR PASSWORD.
The patch does not work for boot password and hard disk passwords....

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
If you flash one of the bios files from a Lenovo password unlock thread without dumping your original bios you will be stuck with a bricked laptop. Those files only "hack" the bios to remove the password. After you run them you need to reflash the original bios you dumped and you need an external programmer because you can't boot into windows anymore with the patched files....

Re: Computrace on older Lenovos
Excuse my ignorance, but can't computrace be disabled permanently in bios settings?

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
Thank you Maxpower3 for bringing those links to my attention, and thanks for pointing out some very important points.
As I stated in the first post, I developed the automation script, but the credits go to all the users on the forum that reverse engineered Allservice's dxe drivers.
When I posted this script I knew it would be downloaded, ripped off, likely rebranded, and used for profit. I don't like it, because I believe in open source and its community, but I expected it.

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
Hard to tell some times with lenovo's... They have the same icons for boot and supervisor password... Can you boot into your os with original bios? Can you enter bios settings? If you can send a picture of the security section in bios...

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
You need Python 3. The cleanup step won't work with Python 2. If your machine is an older gen it doesn't matter, but newer generations need nvram to be cleaned....Last edited by Knucklegrumble; 08-27-2020, 02:50 PM.
