• Re: My Mesh Network

You realize the infrastructure in my setup is still copper, right?

Secondly, who in their right mind would install a smart door lock? Some things are best kept analog.

You keep mentioning wall warts but I don't have warts all over the place.

In regards to radio interference, that would only happen if the frequencies even collided. Tell ya what, I'll take the time to build a spectrum analyzer. Then we will see how noisy it is with my environment.

Also, none of this was some kit.

Oh, my modem stays...

Being that I work in IT, a lot of the stuff I have accumulated over the years.

The Apple devices are definitely the most expensive components. Whats nice about their equipment, even though they have now been discontinued by Apple, is that they "talk" to one another, similar to the MoCA devices. Since all of them are all in AP mode, I am channel steering to target desired channels. I rarely have an issue.
The MoCA adapters were the most recent component. I bought them for 20 a piece. The devices I'm using aren't even technically available...

What all you including? LED's too? Honestly idk what a reasonable offer would be.

I did find the contacts for UART btw. They are more like contact points. Not to solder to. Sadly I don't have the same kind of lab that I used to. If I cannot throw headers on it, then I'm stuck. I went from a whole room to a kitchen table for a lab space. <<< true struggles

Although I enjoy the chatter, and 2nd @desert-rat's notion for Mint, I'd like to point that Windows is now incorporating the linux subsystem into it. With it you can fetch your favorite build and multi-compute from the same environment.

• Re: How to restore my serial number on my bios?

So, I was thinking.... How are you all obtaining and restoring these dumps? Direct access to the EEPROM or are you using a boot disk to obtain a backup?
Also, why not just use HP's BiosConfigUtility with a /get:"filenamehere.txt" to have a full output of everything config. Serial, UUID, Bios version, etc etc. Afterwards you can restore only the VSS styles portion of a clean dump with flashrom.

Just a question. Also, has anyone had issues blowing out the MAC address of the nic after using one of these...

LMAO too funny. I may be new here but that's merely a limitation of my knowing of this forum. Besides, this question was way in my comfort zone. @Topcat it would be nice if there was a rep based off of a "Thanks" and/or "Rep". If I can answer, I will.

btw yours has been the closest to a match. 50%. its a shame that this device has doppelgangers under the name Proscan and GE and I cannot find a compatible eeprom dump. Yeah I'm thinking the same. I have some extra headers to use. Got a schematic of the board? That would spare me the poking and probing as I didnt notice a header pinout just hanging around.

With Win10 there are Local and Microsoft accounts. If Microsoft, you need to reset via the website. If Local then the following is a sure fire way assuming you don't have Bitlocker enabled too.

Grab any Windows PE enviroment, installation media, or even a linux disc.... and boot it.

Once booted, navigate to the C:\ (may be mounted as a different drive) and go into windows\system32

Find osk.exe and rename it to osk.bak
Find cmd.exe and make a copy naming it to be osk.exe....

started a topic My Mesh Network

My Mesh Network

So network capabilities is definitely a requirement in our home.... with me having my hands in so many things, I don't have the time to deal with the troubles of networking. At the same time, I don't own, so I cannot go pulling wire for a backbone. Because of this, I took what I had and expanded on it.

Over the last 6 years, I've used apple Airport Extremes. Some of you may cry and shout, but the truth is that they have simplified the process to an effortless setup and their wireless bridging just works.

Now that I'm able to get 400 x 20, it was time to do an upgrade....

So my experience with tv's is limited, but electronics are all the same when it comes to low level programming and functionality. You reminded me that
when you mentioned the UART interface.
That got me thinking.... a lot of other devices I've worked with usually have some fallback to make the chip do different things. For example, on device I work with, you have to ground out a pin or 2 to make it viewable by a computer as a writable chip. So I went back to the datasheets and low and behold, the chip has both a hardware and...

REALLY? I hadn't taken the time to do a full analysis of it. BTW, blank eeprom = no light at all. I did come across a few references to similar models getting stuck where the front panel is off, the screen is off, and all you get is audio. Things like that. Thinking about throwing a few resets at it. I don't have the original remote, but I do have a pretty decent IR blaster.

yep sure can

40RE010C878LNA0-A1

has a winbond w25q128fv spi chip on it.

ive already tried dumping it, wiping it, and putting it back several times. also tried similar firmwares

one from a 46 not a 40. that had a 27% match when i compared them. but then again im comparing a 46 to one thats suspected bad.

tv has a red light. i can power it on and see voltage changes. light goes out though. when i power it back off, only 5v can be traced on main board.

...

care to point me in the right direction? i did come across some sites from our russian comrades, but they are not bin files. instead it sounds like you just drop the file on a usb and plug it in. unfortunately my russian is limited to net, da, and privet.

• Re: HP Elitebook 820 G1 - Still BIOS password after flash

Just wondering, how are you dumping and restoring the SPI? Mazzif over at MDL has a nice thread on these systems. Using a pi and flashrom one could obtain a dump, download a clean bios update and compare the two. Flashing only the VSS styles area will retain the mac address of the nic. Im actually going to be doing this later today.
