• Re: VESTEL LED BACKLIGHT - repair/replace options ?

Thanks RB123 - but I plan to glue the mushroom on top, too ! If 1W is too much what is the correct value ?

Yes, I noticed the "stacking" method, but again this means trashing a whole LED strip rather than just replacing a LED itself.....

It is always annoying, at least to me, when in this "modular" world we have to pay (say) 10 dollars to replace a 10 cent item that failed
(but that could easily be replaced individually)Re: VESTEL LED BACKLIGHT - repair/replace

• VESTEL LED BACKLIGHT - repair/replace options ?

Ok, I have what is most probably the standard problem with these 'beasties'.. namely "Xmas tree wiring" - in other words their dire "one out all out" (series) arrangement !

I am looking at a couple of options to resolve the problem and would appreciate some input as I am sure this has been done before by others on here.....

First question is if I replace the faulty LED on its own (after I have removed the 'mushroom' diffuser) just what type/s of SMD LED would you recommend ? (I assume here it is a 12V LED being over-driven but have no idea of the...

• Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi, Not new to electronics but only just opened my (dark !) flat-screen TV to find a bunch of LED strips... and I really don't understand why these are in series.... is it a conspiracy ??

I thought such ideas went out with old 240V Xmas tree lights ?? One fails = ALL fail !!Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

• Re: Cheap Ebay Stuff: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly – Post Your Reviews

First of all apologies I am a newbie to the forum (but not electronics...)

Having some 'fun' with the LED backlights on the ill-reputed VESTEL type/s !

There must be a supplier on e-bay of the (individual SMD) LEDs, but there are loads to choose from (most rather indeterminate and no doubt some are bad/ugly..); Any recommendations on suppliers?

As an 'aside' I now also wonder how many folks throw a whole $400 TV away due to one single faulty (and in series)...
