    Abit SE6 bad caps replace

I have an abit SE6 with bad caps.
Because I can't find cap of the right value in Italy (1500uF
6.3V), i'm thinking to replace them with 1200uF 6.3V or 10v (panasonic fc serie 105).

I replace them calmy or there are problems ?

    Thanks

HMMM... Not too sure about that one... I'm sure the board will work after replacing the 1500uF caps with 1200uF caps, although stability would be one of my bigger concerns.

I would try it though, that's not an enormous change, and more than likely it will be OK.

If you need some 1500uF caps, go to www.digikey.com and order part number P10228-ND. Those are 1500uF 10v caps. They're 10mm diameter, and that company does ship internationally. They're a little pricey, and primarily sell in bulk, but you might give them a try.

Thanks for the advice but to buy from www.digikey.com is too expensive for me: 18 caps with tax and handle costs 23.10 $ + shipping (the less expensive ) 18/32$ + 20% vat of my country + +/-10% customs taxes = 72.73 $ (61.61 euro).

I will try 1200uF caps and if the board will not work great, I'll throw it away.

        WHOA!!!!!

I just sent a VP6 to Germany. It took 12 days and cost $22 to send. Then, if I understand him correctly, there was a ≈$10 fee to get it out of customs. I used US Postal Service.

20 caps are ≈$20. Estimated shipping 4-10 day Air to Italy is ≈$15. So, as an estimate, it would be about $40 US. Someone here could order the caps and then readdress them to you. Only thing is, it would most likely take three weeks. Thats via US Postal Service.

I might have the P10202-ND caps on hand. They are the 1500µf 6.3v caps.
You could also see if TopCat has them on-hand and how much he could send them to you for.

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
          by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

          Abit BE6-II motherboard
          by ziplock
          Greetings,

I have an Abit BE6-II motherboard that posts sporadically with the bare minimum components installed - CPU, RAM, PSU, and a Keyboard. I know it posts when the speaker beeps. Re-seating the components has no effect.

I thought the sporadic posting might be capacitor related. Upon inspection, non of the caps are bulged or leaking and they are all original. So, I pulled them ALL. While the ESR is OK, over half of them are leaking current between 1 and 2 mA. The biggest offenders are way out of spec, like a 1500uf / 6.3V measuring 2600uF and many of the 820uF caps...

Identifying caps on an old Zoom 9000
          by Paxman_Swede
          Hello!

I have two projects on my work bench. One is a friends dead JBL Xtreme speaker with a blown voltage regulator and corresponding bulged and shorted cap. That cap has clear markings so I know what replacement I need for it.

The other project however is a whole different deal. It's a Zoom 9000 guitar effect from the 90th that has developed a devil hound howl when there is no input from the guitar. I'm guessing caps problem. So, since I don't really use this effect anymore I thought it would be a perfect project to learn on.

I have studied the board and...

          Help recapping DFI motherboard
          by kupa97
I have a DFI LANParty UT nF4 Ultra-D with A TON of bad capacitors and I need help deciding which caps to replace them with, I've never done this before so I'll use this as a learning experience. I have included a color-coded photo of every single bulging capacitor on this motherboard. All bad caps are KZG, the KY and KMG caps seem to be in perfect condition at least visually. I've read about replacing these caps with polymer ones, but I'm not sure which ones to buy. Thanks.

          Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps
          by eryjus
          Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."
