Hi folks, my name is Daryn and I came across this forum due to a bad samsung tv which is driving me round the bend.

A bit about me, I am a licenced radio amateur (2E0DKD) for anyone out there with the same hobby. I also have a forum that Im very proud of which is a travel related forum. Wont gave the link as not fully sure of the rules as yet but its Majorcaforum.

My job is a taxi driver in South Tyneside UK and you can here me DXing throughout the night or on the cb channels chatting to my work mates. I love the fact I can sit in my car and chat to someone on the other end of the world.

Yes a bit of a geek with a radio BUT CAN I HELL FIX THIS TV LOL.

If I can help anyone with the above then please ask away.

          Daryn

Peta, ofcourse some advertising would always be helpful to making this a success.... This forum has existed since October 6th 2003, online the first time at about 9:00PM CST. Being a couple days old, atleast there's traffic...

I don't know if this forum will be a huge success or not, I created it out of requests from viewers, so we'll see how many actually join... If it takes off, I'll be tickled pink!! If it flops, I'll simply remove it.

                        A little about me?!?

HMMM I'll give a little info... I've been in the electronics field since 1991, with experience ranging from TV/VCR repair all the way to industrial electronics for a very large and well known manufacturer. I started in computers in 1994, just for a change and something I thought would be more challenging.... First of all, in the computer field, I AM NOT a number cruncher (programmer) YUK!!!!! I'm a hardware/network guy... I can install any OS, repair and make it work, but sitting and typing code is more boring than watching flies mate!! So I stick to hardware!! I get the 'thrill' from coming up with cures for problems, creative and USEFUL mods (this DOES NOT include neon lights and corny batman windows in my cases)...

Before the VP6 was around, Abit's poster child was the BP6, dual celeron board... Being one of the pioneers to run dual Coppermines in my BP6 was quite a thrill... Then came the VP6, and the dreaded crap cap problem... Thus was born PROJECT:VP6, which is over a year old... It can be viewed at www.kabalsrealm.com/systems/projects/vp6/. That single article ultimately led to badcaps.net and this forum... I was shocked at the publicity it drew...

                        A little inside info?!?
Well, age?! I'll say late 20's and that's close enough... I enjoy dealing with the computers, all of this is just a hobby these days, so if it did flop, it's no loss... I'm also a car nut... (300ZX!!!)... I also enjoy flying immencely, although, no I don't own an airplane... YET!!! Maybe if I sell off all this computer junk, I could afford one... HEH I own 3 domain names, and host sites for a few friends on this array... Of course they pay me nothing... HMMM Ohh well... Money isn't all... That's about all I think needs to be revealed... If there's something you really need to know about me, ask... The answer all depends on the question you asked...

                        Anyhow,
Peta, and everyone else that has joined, Welcome to the forums!! Bring some friends with ya!!
hi jay here just a simple man trying to make his way in life nothing special till i was stumped on how many tvs such as my own has the same problem being only 3-4 years old wow but I have no answers figured to run this thru the forum to see what I could be entertained with here lol..

Hi there, my name is John. I came upon this site whilst looking for info about lcd monitor power supplies. I do not know a great deal about electronics but I do seem to manage to repair most things in the end (or blow them up).
Anyway I need to go and see if I can scour out some info on the reason why the main fuse on the power board is blowing.
                          Thanks, catcha later

                                Hey guys,

Just found this place looking for info on possibly repairing a Vizio VX42L that I got for free.
It turns on for a second just enough to see the channel number, and then off.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Going to go check out the power supply now.

                                  Hi Everyone.
I am a new member and found this site from looking for information about motherboard faults. My Name is Hartley and I am in Queensland Australia. I just sort of stumbled into computer repairs after being hit with a large bill for the replacement of a pentium mmx 5 years ago. I knew nothing about computers back then as I was an automotive and aircraft painter for many years. After I got the bill and my computer back I did some research and found out just how old and primative it was so from then on I have been self teaching how to diagnose and repair computer systems. Have bought a few bulk lots of old boards from ebay over the past year or so and have had alot of sucsess in recapping the boards with obvious cap fails. I really enjoy the feeling of repairing a faulty board and have it run properly again. Lol its becoming an addiction hahaha...

Hi everyone. I'm an eccentric old lady who never grew up. I should have been a programmer or engineer but I did not realize I could do it until it was too late. Enough said about that.

I am here because I just want to try fixing my TV! I don't have any experience or special training except a long time ago I worked on an assembly line, assembling pc boards. (That was back when Silicon Valley still had manufacturing.) And since then I've been messing around with computers for years, with help from my awesome, nerdy son. So I know how to solder, I'm not afraid of taking the thing apart and I figure the worst thing that can happen is I'll ruin my TV which is not working very well. Eventually I'd have to buy a new one or have it professionally repaired anyway. I love learning how to fix things and make my own stuff. Glad to have found this forum.

                                          Hello...
It seems I have a little more time than money at the moment, and 2 non-working 42" plasma tvs!? *sigh*
I like tech stuff but anything past swapping out ic boards is uncharted territory for me. I like learning though... Worst case scenario I'll have 2 non-working plasmas... which is what I have now... lol
