Hello, My profession is a TugBoat operator and enjoy the hobby of electronics. I'm interested in how they work and why they fail.

Currently working on a Magnavox CT270mw8 . It's one of those combo units crt screen, DVD, VCR set ups.

I will search the site for the appropriate category before posting my questions. Glad to board with many knowledgeable members. Showing my age, I go back when the CB era was popular and you couldn't get a word in edgewise.

            Hi From Whistler BC!

My 16-year-old Sony STR DE935 started acting up recently! It still functions, but the relays (or something) seem to be clicking intermittently, so something is not right! Hopefully I can get it fixed!

              Howdy, y'all

I'm from Memphis, TN and I was given a 50" LG plasma that kicked the bucket after less than two years, so now it's time to bring it back to life (hopefully).

                    I 'm new here.

Just tried to edit my CP settings - no go.
It says I am already registered.. wtf

I posted my issue (TV, olevia) in an existing thread on the topic - hope someone sees it.

                    thanks.

                      Hello

Let me try posting my exact issue here - perhaps that might be better...

I recently was given an Olevia 747-b11 47" LCD TV (very heavy object)

Symptoms: When powered up has dark screen, no sound.
Am told problem originally occurred when TV was operated one day for many hours in very high ambient temperature (Florida, summer, A/C broke down)

                      Details:
When Plugged in and main power switch on, blue pilot light appears.
When TV is POWERED UP, Blue pilot light goes out, a click is heard, a brief 'chirp' is (sometimes) heard coming from inside the TV, no activity, dark screen, no sound.

                      Observations:
Main PCB has many GREEN LEDs,
                      2 RED LEDs (D1, D2 RED)
and 1 LED comes on briefly as GREEN (D96) then goes dark, sometimes with a high pitched chirp sound coming from main PBC in this area (bad horizontal oscillator circuit?)

24VDC observed at both TCON boards with VM.

Fuses (8 on each) TCON board test ok (tested in circuit with ohmmeter)

Shielding removed to reveal TCON boards, Main PCB, Power supply PCB.
No visibly bad caps on any of the above PCBs.

                      PCB IDs / numbers:

                      MAIN PCB
                      DigiMedia Technology
                      SDA1 R0.9
                      PCB P/N EPC-P508201G000

                      S/N A16W0742049708

                      TCON PCB - left
                      CMO S
                      4H.V1838.351 / E2

                      27-D005130 1470H1-24-V01-D1H0 REV 1H

                      TCON PCB right
All numbers exactly same as above EXCEPT is M11172 instead of S11172

                      Help?

Work in the IT industry in India, however love gaming and hence assembled my own home PC with a ViewSonic VX2835WM monitor (4 1/2 years) which has now gone bad. Prime reason for joining the community seeking help

Greetings from Frisco Texas! To date me a bit, I started fixing TVs back when you'd take a suspect tube to the neighborhood drug store or Radio Shack for testing. I've worked as a TV Broadcast Engineer or related since 1968. Technology has changed "a bit" since then. LOL I'm also a ham, K5TPK.

                                  Have a great day!!!
