Hey! New user here! I'm an ex-USAF wideband/satellite communications equipment specialist turned radio broadcast engineer turned television broadcast engineer. I've lived everywhere from the West Coast to Central US at least twice now. I've survived back surgery and cancer. I guess things really do go downhill after 40?

Hello, I'm fromromania and I am looking at those posts because I've found some unknown problems for me.
I must tell tat I am beginner in repairing plasmas.
The screen of my LG 50PC51 shows vertical red lines that appear over the image while the signal is present.
When I change channels, the red bars doesn;t show but after 1 sec they reappear.
The OSD is also affected, I cannot see anything on the screen (not even "no signal" logo) I just can presume the OSD by the bar position.
Can you help me on looking for same deffects or I must open new threads?
            Thanks alot for hospitality.

As an intro, I am a retired EE with 26 years with HP/Agilent. My last position was as a Solution Architect for Cell phone base station test systems. I have been involved with electronics since I was 12 years old over 62 years ago. I started with vacuum tubes and transitioned to all varieties of Semi conductors.
I troubleshoot all types of electronics as well as restoring antique vehicles and their associated electrical systems.
I fly RC fixed wing and Heli's, mostly Electric powered.
My reason for joining this forum has to do with my Samsung 32" LCD
TV that has developed a high voltage spark during the first turn ON of the day. I understand there are capacitor issues with some sets but this sounds like a different problem.
                                        Any help would be appreciated.
                                        Regards,

I've been making a living as a technician for 17 years. Whether it was game console modding in the mid 90s, hi-fi audio gear restoration, laptop repair, it's something technically related. I've never believed in holding information away from people who were humble and asked the right questions, because it's an industry "trade secret" or something I am afraid will make me lose my competitive edge. I see technical knowledge as a pathway to independence and hope to help others who started where I did see it the same way.
