Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello. I'm a really old hacker - 68. I built a crystal radio as a Boy Scout, built every HeathKit they put out, and programmed a vacuum tube computer. My latest hack project was hacking Tivo's to network them. I hate to hire others to fix stuff and have a broken LCD monitor. I'm really glad to find you all.

            Hi -

As I expect is the case with a lot of people here, I'm trying my first cap repair. Software guy by trade, but I'm starting to find the actual nuts and bolts of simple electronics interesting. If I don't blow anything up while trying my fix, I'll probably start spending some time here learning things.

                  Hello all.

I came across this site while trying to troubleshoot my dead LG plasma. I do have a bit of electronics knowledge, but am new to televisions. This site looks to be a wonderful source of knowledge and advice.

Just trying to fix my Panasonic TC-P50G10 TV and ran across this site. Hoping to get it fixed without taking out a new mortgage on the house.

                      Hello all,

Fixing my own stuff is my newest hobby. I fixed my polaroid lcd tv using this site to steer me in the right direction but now I have adopted a new broken tv I am hoping to fix myself.

Hello from Australia. I'm Ben. Some friends and I have been noticing a lot more LCD TV's out on the footpath for council cleanup lately. Thought we'd get some experience trying to fix a couple. So far I've had some success fixing an LCD TV with obvious leaky caps and a receiver amplifier that had bad filter caps. I still have a lot to learn so this site should be really handy.

ArtProf here - guess my profession!

Registered because someone ditched a nice LCD and figured I would tinker with it - curiosity and wanting to learn something new started this endeavor - also the idea of having a huge monitor in my small office would be hilarious.

Probably the bad caps so we shall see!

                              Hi All,

John here from downunder. I have been playing with electronics for a long time, but have been working mainly in IT. Still have my first Commodore 64, although it has stopped working, but have another functional one and have an original 1541 disk drive still in original box. I just came on to this forum because of a Toshiba Satellite A200 that came in for me to look at, and found your great thread on these laptop problems.

                                Hey Badcaps,

Found myself registering here after another fellow forum member recommended this place on another forum.

I've got a LCD TV I'm messing about with for my sons room, which I hope I've already found the fault for by searching this great forum (some amazingly helpful people here btw! Or at least hope your all people, can't be too careful).

I guess I need some clarification that I'm right, but also hope to be of assistance to others with Laptop/PC hardware problems, fault finding and BIOS Recovery procedures, although looks like this place is flooding with Engineers!

I'm not saying I'm a Technical genius, I prefer the term problem solver.

                                    Hi Badcaps,

A quick google brought me here after looking around on how to solve a few issues regarding my TV.

Having had a quick look around and still in need of some guidance I thought I'd pop in on the fun.

Also may chuck my 2 cents in here and there on anything IT related.

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie at tv repair, working on my first plasma repair now and need a little bit of assistance.

Google brought me here so i figured instead of spending hours trying to find the answer to my question (which apparently nobody has asked) I would post about it here.
