9.5mm is the standard today.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Crazy. I'm not old enough to have the really old computers...but my first hard drive was 4GB and it cost a 100 something dollars.
