    Digitrex GK-1020 DVD Player

A few weeks back, I got a Digitrex (made by the same guys of the Apex and Hiteker units) GK-1020 DVD player from a junkyard for a song. When I opened it, I saw a few bulging capacitors (CD263 series). I then decided to replace the electrolytics with Nippon Chemi-Con SXE Series, except for C6, this being a Nippon Chemi-Con KMG Series.

I also upgraded the capacitors as a good measure, as shown below, board space permitting:

    C18, C25 (47uF 16V) - 470uF 25V
    C20, C24 (470uF 16V) - 1000uF 16V
    C27 (220uF 16V) - 1000uF 16V
    C15, C16 (220uF 16V) - 470uF 25V
    C7 (47uF 50V) - 100uF 50V

After replacing the electrolytics, the player now works perfectly.

I don't know the brand of electrolytic capacitor pictured, but there was a "DM" brand capacitor for the HV unit, as for the Wintel Win1X I recently fixed.

My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

    Victrola multi-player - No audio
    by kokopelli75
    Hello!

My mother has a Victrola Navigator player that stopped functioning after a storm. I checked out what I could - all player functions appear to work, but there is no audio output in either the speakers or the headphone jack. I suspect (with my limited knowledge) that the amplifier part of the device is toast. Photo of the suspected board is attached. There's separate boards for front display, record player, etc. This board has a section for power regulation and a section for amp. There's a UTC7266 7+7W dual bridge amplifier IC and a CSC2314F sound processor IC on the board. Visually,...

LG BH6420P Home theather blue ray player repair
    by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, I'm trying to troubleshoot this LG hometheater player.

The customer forced her USB drive reversed into it's USB socket and since then the player won't work properly, only shows "Please wait" error forever on it's display.

Now I started diagnosing the USB socket and the mainboard where it's connected.

I found 20ohm resistance to ground on the 5V line of the USB.

5V is missing and I found the buck converter of the USB line, TPS65252 IC.
After measuring the pins I realized that both VIN and 3V3 is correctly present...

Panasonic AG-1000B VHS player with bad picture quality
    by FZG
    Hello!

I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.

Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.

I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?

    Also, what mechanism is this?

    Any feedback is appreciated!...

Help troubleshooting an audio problem with an RCA SGT-250 CED Player
    by samson7point1@yahoo.com
The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

The player processes the audio signal using two different reference frequencies. The "R"...
