Re: Nvidia Shield TV 2017 Dead

I removed U504, U505 and U506 which cleared the shorts around the last two but still a low ohm short in the area of U504 and now the MAX77620a is heating quickly and the board is drawing 270ma when plugged in.

    Any suggestions ?

Re: Nvidia Shield TV 2017 Dead

Hi, i've got a similar problem with a 2017 shield tv. it's not turning on at all, no green light. i've tested the power supply and the board is receiving 19v on the mains input so i assume the plug is working fine.
Also there is a very faint humming sound coming from the board when it's plugged in.

Is there anyone who has managed to diagnose and fix a similar problem with this model that would be able to give me an idea of where to go next?.

This is my first time posting on a forum so apologies if i've not done it correctly.

        Nvidia Shield P2897 dead
        by badboyzzz
There is a problem with nvidia shield 2019 p2897. The lights of the device are on but there is no voltage in the red marked areas. The green areas are normal and the chip in the yellow area is heating up in long-term voltage. Does anyone have a diagram or an idea? Thanks in advance

        NVidia bumpgate

Just archiving everything related to bumpgate since most stuff has disappeared from Google. Maybe people will finally take the time to read some of it and stop shouting "reflow gpu" at every occasion but rather try to understand what the real issue is…
Interesting parts about the failure analysis are "Why Nvidia's chips are defective" and "Why Nvidia's duff chips are due to shoddy engineering"

May complete this post at a later date with more details.
Basically issue is a combination of thermal dissipation of the chip with hotspot,...
