    Panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks ..still

    Hi,

I've been struggling with getting this TV to work. I have searched the forums and internet for the troubleshooting guide to identify what the problem is (one that checks for connectors, and such) for the SS board since alledgelly the board is functional yet i still get the 8 blinks.

It has been a couple of years since i got it, and I think i recall it having 9 blinks first before i replace the SS board.. and now is down to 8? .. or maybe it was always 8.

So, the question for you guys is: anyone has the troubleshooting guide for it? or can walk me through it?

I do recall seeing something like a workflow that asks you to disconnect it from the controller board and check if is still on.. and then some other tests like that.

    help?

This is for the 3D version. It should be the same as yours.

Need to further test as I missed connecting some cables in the A Board.. it does stay on so it has to do with the SS.

So I ended up testing what the troubleshooting guide suggests, and the conclusion is that the SS board needs replacing.

I got this board from someone a couple of years ago, who said it was "tested". My take is that he replaced the three normal components that go bad in these boards.

Do you guys have any guidance for me to test (and how to go about it) to identify where the actual issue in the board? (or even if you suggest i should just get rid of it)

          Thanks!

              Thank you Tvtimmy.

It does describes three components that are no longer available online. I would assume the person who provided me with the SS board already changed those components, yet it seems that it was either incorrectly done or something else broke.

Is there any way to test those components individually to see if they actually are broken? (the resistor is easy to test..but what are the other two that are attached to the heat sink?)

The one in the red circle should not have a short on any combination of 2 pins at a time.
The other one is a diode. Use diode mode on your meter and check one of the front 2 pins with the single one in the back. It will only read one way. If no reading, reverse the leads.

Sorry for the dumb question, but to check for not having a short.. do i need to check for a level of resistance? or there should be NO continuity at all across any combination of 2 pins?

No continuity. Most meters beep when probes touch each other.

Thank you very much for following up.

I have done some tests, but I just want to make sure I did not mess it up.
For the diode, that was pretty much straight forward as my multimeter does have a diode test. I got a reading (350-349) when using the red lead on either of the two front, and ground lead on the back pin.

For the other component, my multimeter is rather cheap and does not have that beeping sound nor a "continuity" feature called out. So i thought i could still use the diode mode .. and with it i got a reading in one of the two front pins in combination with the back pin but only using the red lead on the front pin. If i reversed the leads it would not give me a reading.

would that continuity test be correct using the diode mode?

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Panasonic P58V11B 8 and 12 blinks error "fix"
                        by Biruslapio
Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

                        Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
                        by jm1234
                        Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                        by Alicat
                        Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                        Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                        Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere...
