Colored Vertical Bar on Panasonic Plasma model TH-50Px6U

I have an older Panasonic Plasma model TH-50Px6U. It's about 12 years old or so. I've already replaced the power supply board, and the vertical buffer board. The buffer board was replaced because there was a black rectangular bar in the center of the picture that was extended half way down. Replacing the buffer fixed the problem.

Now I am experiencing a slightly different problem. There is a similar bar, this time consisting of colored lines, vertically oriented and extending 1/2 way up from the bottom. See PICTURE w/ PBS video.

At first I thought this might be another buffer failure. I disassembled the TV, unclipped the ribbon cable, cleaned it and clipped it in again. No change.
When the ribbon cable is unclipped I took at look at the picture. This time there is a vertical black bar immediately adjacent to the colored bar.

Now I suspect that the panel is bad as if it was the buffer board the black bar would cover the entire width on the screen controlled by ribbon connector. But it's 1/2.

    I attached 3 photos:
    1. Color Bar on PBS screen
    2. Black/Color bar - ribbon cable unclipped
    3. Back of TV -- I took this one a few years ago, upper center vertical buffer is removed. Lower section where I was working is circled.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Bad panel?

    Thanks.

Not experienced at all with these issues myself. But i can tell you i just finished working on a tv that was showing bars halfway down the screen. And yeah it turned out to be the panel.

Schematic or datasheet for Plasma TV buffer chip
      by Yanleb
      Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.

So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).

Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer....

      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

      by thetonywarren
Friend of mine has a Samsung Plasma panel with some vertical lines that are starting to form on the screen.....Ive never worked on a plasma panel, so Im not sure what to look for, would this typically be a main board issue, or something else?

Any help would be appreciated.....Please let me know.......

Samsung Plasma TV with vertical lines (model PN50B430P2D)
      by afex
This is my 2nd broken TV I'm trying to fix and haven't been able to figure out... currently going without any working TVs so am hoping to be able to fix one..

This Samsung PN50B430P2D Plasma has this big block of vertical lines which will fade in shortly after turning the TV on. The lines will sometimes flicker a bit or fade in/out and sometimes it just stays present. The length of time it takes them to appear varies, sometimes its a few minutes and other times it appears immediately after powering on.

I have attached an image of the TV with these bars displaying....

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
      by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
      • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
      • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault
