i am unsure if this is one of the sets that it is recommended to replace y+buffers in a set.

if your replacement buffer tests good (diode reading on all pins), i would install it and try.

Did some more tests on the y sustain as I'm waiting for other board anyways, do these seem right?

This is right near the plug to the y buffer.

there is no way to tell if those resistors are meant to have continuity or not without knowing the value of each piece. so you have to read each component, then check it's resistance and if it then reads out of spec, remove it and retest.

Thanks very much, obviously a novice here... I've seen some videos and it appeared like someone was testing them in place.

I'll wait till the new buffer arrives, test it and compare to my original one... then swap it in and see if she runs!... Should be here in a few days I think.
