Good question, I'm not sure if it would, I myself would grab an eeprom from ebay and throw it on there, there seems to be quite a few on ebay, must be some demand for them.

Do the numbers on the white stickers on both mainboards match?

Can it be repaired or does this indicate an issue with the microprocessor?

Maybe just the eeprom, I've poked about a few mainboards and some have an i2c eeprom with the model type in. It depends what else is on the motherboard.

They're different but every component and layout looks identical

Not sure, maybe start by checking if they both take the same firmware, is that yours there? see if it also applies to the 50: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-42LN5300.AUS
