Another donation to me (people are good aren't they) this time with good picture and sound except the sound is either low or flat out! Haven't opened it but went through menus did a factory reset checked with various settings but it is either low about level 10 then change to 11 and its full on. Same thing happens remote or set buttons. When I open it will clean contacts board and look it over generally but is a problem I haven't met before.

Re: JVC 42DG1. sound problems
Well on taking back off I found remote and set buttons had their own individual leads so that led me to a main board problem. It was inside a tin box cover. Gave it a clean but nothing obvious to see other than 2 brown coloured capacitors near audio area whereas all others were black however checking soldering and white goo on parts it all appears to be original. Reassembled and problem still there. Tried input (source or av) on remote then while that on screen pressed 2 5 8 0 and got service menu in which there was an " audio curve " setting so selected that and it looked weird showing numbers 192. 192. 254. 1. so then I went to " reset all " and activated it. When set came back on checked factory menu again and the curve is now as shown in pic and all going good. No idea how or why it got so out of whack.Last edited by maxvalutech; 01-16-2018, 06:01 PM.
