    I found this video (see below), that explains how to short the PS_On pin to another pin in order to then test the remaining voltages on a PSU. The title of this video cites an LCD tv. Do you think I can perform the same test on this Samsung plasma? If so, which exact pin would I connect the Ps_On pin to in order to create the proper short?

    All of the connector labelings can be found up in my very first post on this thread.

        Yes, I’m going to get those light bulbs together and rig up that test w/ the 2 120W bulbs in sequence. I’m just wondering if there is an easier way to do virtually the same thing.

        In the video, he connects the PS_On with an adjacent 5vSb pin, then was able to test the Vs and VA. Does this work with any PSU? I’d like to try that first, assuming it’s safe to do.

          It's a standard test for plasma screen power supply as far as I know.

            I don't have a video for this PLASMA PSU 'self-test'. The light bulbs are everyday household 120Vac 100W bulbs. Note however this 'self-test' applies to PLASMA TV PSUs only, NOT LCD TVV PSUs. Just follow the step by step procedure I offered and that will confirm any doubts you may have about the PSU. Remember once the light bulbs light bright continuously, measure you Va and if it falls into spec then the PSU is good. There would be no need to look at the PSU again if this test proves successful. You can now look at the other boards, and I there are 'self-tests' we will explain after, But do the PSU test first to rule that out as a start.

              I did some more investigating on this PSU and found that there are at least two SMD resistors that are damaged. Based on quite a bit of research I just conducted, and looking at a wide variety of repair kits that are out there on the market, I figure there are about four or five more SMD's that probably need to be replaced as well in order to ensure the fix. Also found two 10 ohm resistors on the front of the board that need replacing. If I attempt to fix this, I will also have to replace the MOSFETS as well (QS801 and QS802 for sure, and then also QX801 and QX802).

              Never did the MOSFET replacement before, or the SMD's. It's much more involved that I was hoping for when I first opened up the set. I might just use the whole thing as a practice session to improve my skills and hope for the best.

              But, before I dig into it in this rather involved way, I am wondering if anyone out there has suggestions for a reputable and reliable MAIL-IN repair service that I could send it to. I found one online called Preher-Tech and have written to them. They were fixing these exact boards for only $50 between 2011 and 2016 (the dates of the online blog), but it looks like they may have gone out of that particular mail-in fix business. I'll write back here if I get a response from them by e-mail in the coming days, but hoping I can gather up some more MAIL-IN repair options here through Badcaps.

              Thanks in advance for any ideas / suggestions anyone may have.

              The PSU part # in question here is BN44-00161A, the same as on my Samsung HP-T4264
