Re: LG 60PC1D-UE picture messed up

Hi tom...i got back to working on the plasma again but very odd now

Now for some reason there is no picture at all....just sound....and the about 5 min after i powered tv on i heard like a pack of firecrackers going off in back of the tv....not just a pop but many pops....continuously for about 2 seconds but several mayve 10 quick pops

Any ideas what that could have been?

    I don't think it's the Z board.

    hi...tom

in ur opinion would you suggest main board over z board?

z board is crazy expensive....main board not

I did see it, no idea really.

I would suggest the main board, but only a guess. The digital part (with LVDS), if it has two halves.

I can't see it being anything else - but I'm not infallible - and without the equipment (scope, reliable multimeter, etc.), it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

I'm merging this with your old thread because we have a general policy of one thread per problem here.

I ran out of answers about 30 posts ago.

as you can see....once in a while the picture actually becomes decent for a fraction of a second...

another note....just tested tv again today and pic is 99% of the time messed up but when it flickers good therr r still no vsc vsetup voltages

so i now have to assume the test points are not 100% accurate

im thinking its a z board failure even though z voltages are good.

Re: LG 60PC1D-UE picture messed up

what else could cause missing vsc and vsetup voltages only when logic/control board power cable from y board is connected?

and when power to logic is disconnected from y board...vsc and vsetup voltages are good

Re: LG 60PC1D-UE picture messed up

hi just got 3rd control logic board

    no change

same exact symptoms....i would say this confirms that it is not a control logic issue

if someone has any advice what could be causing the issue i would appreciate it

i have replaced buffers.....no change at all ..same no vsc no vsetup voltages
i have replaced y board..no change at all...same no vsc.. no vsetup voltages
i have replaced control board 2 times.no change at all..same no vsc and no vsetup voltages

only way i get good vsc and good vsetup is if power to control board is disconnected

and removing power to control board and getting good vsc and vsetup voltages happens with all the boards i replaced...in any order...doesnt matter

I'd put it up for FREE on Craiglist/etc or even ebay so it doesn't get completely trashed, if you can't fix it.

Re: LG 60PC1D-UE picture messed up

I already said I didn't know what the fault was without using a scope on the TV to tell what is wrong with the drive waveforms. It's not the typical kind of fault you get with a Z-sustain failure.

im going to buy another logic board and see how tv acts

you 100% do not think its a z or p/s issue?

and what about main a/v board like martli said could be?
