Samsung UE40B6000VW TV - won't come back out of standby

My friend has an odd issue with her Samsung UE40B6000VW tv. It's started not coming out back on when she tries to take it out of standby mode.

I took the back off a week or so ago, couldn't see anything and just thought I'd turn it on to see what happened and to my surprise it worked. I put it back together and it's worked for a week.

Same thing has happened again though. Won't come out of standby, take the back off and it works again. (Actually, now I've re-read that maybe its the total loss of power that's making it work again rather than connected to taking the back on and off).

Any ideas what's going on? Is it likely to be a fault on the power board or main board?

    Thanks
    Andy

sounds like a failing power supply . sounds like a compacitor not able to hold its compacitance . So tv dont have enought voltage to supply all the boards . Sounds like voltage drop .

On these sets if you disconnect the mainboard cable and plug the Tv in the backlights will come on. Try that if so Psu is fine and Mainboard is failed.

          hello andy,

I have the exact same problem with the same TV-Model.
If I take the power away, wait for ~30 seconds, plug the powercable in, the TV starts fine. If I press standby, it doesn't wake up again.
I have to take it from power and wait ~30 seconds or discharge the high voltage capacitors on power-board...then TV starts again.

All capacitors look fine on my board, but I will recheck them again.

I disconnected the mainboard and backlight went on. So you think the mainboard is defective???

Did you find a solution for your problem?

          thanks!
