    Sony KDL-40VL160 T-Conn or LCD

I have this Sony TV that I purchased in late 2009. I started getting horizontal lines one one side of the screen and the other side is all black. If I disconnect the T-conn then I get white. The TV stays on and if I recall the red LED blinking sequence, I get 14 blinks. I've read that this could be either the T-conn or the LCD itself. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

If you disconnect LEFT side cable of T-CON Bd to Panel but leave the RIGHT side cable connected and power ON TV...What do you get on the Right side of the Screen??....AND....if you reconnect the LEFT side cable and disconnect the RIGHT side cable and power ON TV...What do you get on the Left side of the Screen??....

I am out of town right now but I remember when doing that, I would get a white half of the screen. I just don't remember if the white half was on the side I disconnected or on the opposite side. I'll check when I'm back in a few days. Thank you.

So I tested the screen and as I thought, the side of the t-con that I disconnect goes white. As soon as I reconnect, the lines come back. Any suggestions? Thank you.

            Is that for both sides??
Measure and report these voltages on your T-CON Bd. In brackets are what you could expect.
Vcc (5Vo12V) on both sides of the fuse F1
Von (20V~30V) may see it as VGON,VGH, VDDG
Voff (-5V~-8V) may see it as VOFF, VGL, VEEG
Vdd (3.3V) may see it as VLOGIC, VDDD, DVDD
Vda (13V~20V) may see it as AVDD, VDDA, V Source

If these voltages are OK you have a bad Panel. If they anot good, try a new T-CON Bd.

6 Red Blinking lights (left side darker) on Sony KD-49XE8396
              by Watson306
              Hi,

I've got a Sony KD-49XE8396 TV that will switch on show the Sony logo then the Android logo and then switches off, and then blinks red 6 times.

I've read that this is the backlight, and during it showing the initial logos I can see that the left side is definitely darker.

I've also read that you can bypass the error to get it working but I'd prefer to fix it if at all possible. Any help would be appreciated.

              Many Thanks in advance.

Magnum IA.100 Amplifier Switches on, No Output, Possible Input Side fault?
              by flibidy
I have here a Magnum IA.100 which belongs to my parents.

The unit powers on & when the relay kicks in, you get a pop from the speakers (this might sound weird but is usual behavior for this amp). However, you get nothing coming through it from any of the inputs & no pops and crackls from any of the controls.

Because of the sound from the speaker when the amp turns on I have assumed that the output section probably works but I could be wrong & I'm not sure how to test that side of things further.

              What Ive done........

              Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware
              by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...
