Samsung LE37M87BD with heavy ghosting issues

Regarding an 11 year old Samsung LE37M87BD that's been used as a pc monitor all day every day.

I've opened up the tv, which currently looks like the picutes linked below. I think the problem is related to lcd panel flat cable connectors but messing with them doesn't change anything. Any ideas?

I once saw a video for my specific model about the problem I was having and it said to put pieces of paper under the flat cables that connect the panel to the rest of the tv, which will make them connect better. This was to fix the problem that the tv needs to warm up for 10 minutes before displaying correctly, and before it stops making popping noises. This morning the problem got worse, only displaying some lines and didn't resolve itself after warming up. I did the piece of paper thing and the problem got worse. When I removed the pieces of paper I got the screen working as it is in the pictures. Lots of ghosting, and if there is something on screen that color will streak all the way across the screen. Likely It has something to do with the flat cables, but when I press down on them on any part there is no change at all to the on screen artfiacts and ghosting.

I can't seem to find the edit button. Checked the FAQ and it should be there. Wanted to add that I found out what influences my problem: Besides the flat cables that are connected to the lcd panel, there are also 4 flaps connected to the left of the lcd panel. They don't go anywhere but are just attached. There are little 1mm by 3mm rectangle blocks on them, and if I push on the top one, the whole screen shows the vague artifacts/streaks in the middle of the pictures very brightly in white, and they fade away once I let go.

So now that I have found a likely source, I have no idea what to do with it and would like advice on that.

The side tabs have chips in them.
There will be no real way to pad them down successfully.

I believe the side tabs are for refresh rate. On some models you can simply pull them off and get a nice picture again.

Your panel is toast anyway so I'd pull them off and it if doesn't work break down the set.

Well I still use the panel for some browsing, and it's a lot better than using a 17" screen since I won't have the money for a new tv for quite a while. I just can't play games or watch videos on it. I'd prefer to not take the risk without knowing more about it. How can I know for sure what they are for? Is there some kind of technical blueprint database where I can look this up?

Also I've noticed that the top one of the tabs has a small 90 degree corner scorchmark on it that the others don't. This is also the height where there are permanent 2 horizontal lines spanning the entire screen. I'm guessing this means that it isn't a problem with the connecting this tab makes with the lcd panel but rather inside the tab.

I ripped the tab off after it got worse. There's no image at all now. Just some white lines. and some light background buzzing.

What can I do with the rest of the parts? Can I still use the panel in any way now? How about a replacement tab?

Panel is toast now and you cant replace the tabs, I would have suggested looking into the AS15 chip being at fault as that can cause ghosting

I know it cant help you now but just wanted to make the point in case others read.

Well in this case it didn't matter much. There was a clear tear in that tab, so I'm sure that's where the problem originated.

It's a load off my shoulders actually. I've been fighting a death battle with this tv for years and I had to flee the room for 10 minutes because of the noise it made when turning on.

              Thanks for the help all
