    Samsung FP-T5084

Here is another one for you guys. Had this big heavy plasma come in today. The unit would click on then click off. Pull back cover off to find swollen caps on the PS board. Replaced those caps and now i dont even get a click. I have checked over my cap job 3 times including pulling caps out and testing them. I get no voltage at the stby connector pin. Never had one have more issues after cap job. I have checked fuses on the board they are good. Thanks for any help you guys are invaluable!

Have you made sure you didn't bridge any joints when soldering near the caps ? I have done this a couple of times rendering the Psu dead.

A lot of the joints do not look very good but it could be the pictures. It looks like the soldering iron wasn't hot enough. I'd go back over the joints with fresh solder.

Here are some better pictures. Dont mean to sound rude but ive been soldering on electronics for 15 years. I know what im doing. And i know cold solder joints are a no no. Plus i always double check my solder joints. Tvs are a new area for me. I work on small devices. Cell phones, tablets, etc. I do things like multi layer board repair. Trace repair. Data recovery. And so on.

Can you verify your power supply is like this one on Shopjimmy:

                  http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/ca...175a-top_1.jpg

I it is it looks like you may have one or more caps soldered with the wrong polarity.

Agreed. I see at least cap CX811 that appears to be backward.

Thanks for that. I completely looked over the diodes. I am working on this TV for a friend. He said he didnt touch it but obviously that is not the truth. I went ahead and replaced the diode even though it tested good. Still not getting any power out of this board. Is there anything else you guys see at this point, or am I looking at buying a new PSU?

So has the diode now turned around to match the silkscreen layout?

The cap is in the correct position now. I truly cannot believe i did that. Makes me feel incompetent. But still do not have any life out of this board. I have went back over my work a couple more times to double check everythingm i even had someone else look it over as well to make sure i didnt miss anything. Still no power on standby pins. I can hear like a really faint whining noise when it is plugged in but thats it.

Update. So i found a fuse that was bad that didnt read bad in the beginning replaced that fuse and now i have a power light on the front at least. Still cannot get the unit to turn on. Trying to find a remote at the moment.

Ok, that's sorted. With a power light on, means you must have standby voltage at least.

Yes checked the voltage at standby and i have voltage. The service manual tells you to replace main board if yoy have voltage at the standby pin. They should go into more detail with diagnosing whats wrong with the main board
