Hi guys, Managed to successfully repair this television by replacing the AS15F with conventional solder station after following the link on this Forum.
Photo 1 Secured pcb to workbench using self tapper (its an old bench)
Photo 2 removed IC by "flooding" all pins with solder, and slowly lift with blade.
Photo 3 Used a good dollop of Fry's Flux paste before i started.
Photo 4 Cleaned up excess solder with Solder Braid/ wick & flux with tooth brush & methylated spirits.
Photo 5 New chip & in background ic's location with a thin smear of Fry's Flux.
Photo 6 New chip fitted with standard solder iron & NO solder added. Just ran hot iron softly along all pins.
Photo 7 I did remember to adjust the back light down a notch or Two (was full blast)
Photo 8 Now good contrast & not milky white picture.
I have two more to do, & hope this wasn't beginners luck!
