    Samsung 400DXN-2 LH46BVTLBC/EN - Magic info problem

    Hi All,
I'm hoping you will be able to help me with this problem..

We have had this Samsung display for some years now - we've been using it as a power point presentation screen using the inbuilt PC.
Recently the PC has stopped working with nothing showing on the display.

With source set to 'MagicInfo' it simply says "No Signal".

I have tested the HDD and it spins up OK and can be read when connected to my PC.
The power seems OK - All the fans start up and hdd spins when I turn the tv on.
I have recently been told it was the main PC board that was faulty so I have replaced it with a new one (new-read supplied as removed from working TV and tested from store)

    Part no BN41-01250A Megatron Board.

But after replacing this the issue remained.

I was then told it was a HDD fault - but I don't see any errors and don't even see any sign of it attempting to boot, and as i mentioned before, I can plug the hdd into my pc via a usb converter - and can read it without any problems.

    does anyone have any ideas??

    Many Thanks for any help

    Gav

It may be worth reading through the manual and checking everything is still in place needed for it to run.

Can you connect an external monitor to the video out of the PC motherboard?

      Hi,

Everything 'looks' ok and all the connections are good - I have plugged in an additional monitor to the VGA out and the screen just stays in standby mode.

as if, waiting for a signal...

      thanks

The initial suggestion of hard disk problem could be correct. If the MBR (Master Boot Record) of the hard disk is damaged then the PC won't boot up. However you could still read all the data held on it when plugged in to another PC since it now acts as a slave device.

If you do a reset on your PC can you hear the hard drive spinning up or see any led flashing?

Can you get into the Bios by pressing the Del key or F2 when rebooting? At least that should show up on the external monitor if you mother board is working.

          Hi,

I have tested the HDD in another PC and I can see the Windows XP startup screen so I'm pretty sure it's not the HDD at fault.

I'll re-build it and see if I can get anything to come up on a separate screen when booting into bios - but I don't think anything is shown on the screen, it's as if POST doesn't happen..

          Thanks

It's nothing obvious but possibly overlooked like the PC power supply faulty?

Yes - i'm thinking the same thing now...

I've checked the PC on boot and other than the fans and HDD spinning up it looks lifeless!

No POST process, no chance to enter the bios on a linked screen and no lights on the keyboard or mouse.

however...........something strange looks to be happening..

If I turn on the screen with the MagicInfo source selected - nothing happens...
when trying to check the bios, I turned on the screen and pressed all the usual keys to get into the bios, F11, F12, Esc etc.. nothing happens. no lights on the keyboard or the attached mouse. but after a couple of minutes the board 'Clicks' and it comes back to life!?

all working as it should - PC, network connection etc All normal.
If you turn the Screen off and back on again - nothing.

Only when you connect a keyboard and press keys after you start the screen does it seem to work properly?!!?
Although after turning it off the last time I can't get it to start properly again.

but it is showing a different message on the screen - instead of "No Signal"
it says "Not Optimum Mode - Recommended Mode 1920 x1080"

I don't know how to change any of this settings??

              Thanks

on this model to inter Bios hit F2 at booting up.

to solve this issue and any other issue.. would be solved by Factory reset.

for this you need 2GB USB and Dos start file and Tool SFIM.exe and Operating system Image when all on USB and make via the BIOS boot from USB

                hi command

                SFIM / r: 1 dxn.sfi / s

then turn off the screen when the process finished.

log in Bios and move ALL USB KEY to lowest priority.
