Maxent MX-42VM11 Red and White Sparkling

I picked up this plasma, which is more or less functional except that there are red "sparkles" on dark blue images, and white "sparkles" on some lighter images.

It's more or less similar to the problem described here, so I thought I'd attempt the same solution: http://www.jopezu.com/plasma.htm

Since I don't have any relevant experience in television repair, I was wondering how I'd go about doing this safely, or what alternate fixes I might attempt that would be less invasive.

Bumping this once for visibility. Did some reading in this thread, but still haven't attempted a repair yet: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...t=18251&page=1

Also noticed that the red and white pixel storming through the component input from my PS3 is mildly annoying, but tolerable and watchable, but the DVI input from my computer has white pixels going down primarily the left side of the screen, and is much harder to look at. Tested with three different DVI cables, so I know it's not the cable.

Alright, so I popped open the back of the TV and noticed two capacitors bulging pretty badly. I'd like to replace them, but I'm not sure how to go about buying the correct replacement. I'll go ahead and post a picture, hopefully someone is familiar with them.

Jickler,

You don't need to replace those, they are fine. The bulging you are seeing is just the plastic cover, not the actual capacitor.
As for the repair, I just read over the forum, and they describe the process really well. Not much more worth pointing out that they haven't already. I strongly suggest doing it with another person present just in case especially if you don't know what you are doing.

There are two other identical capacitors on the board which are completely flat, and the two I photographed are bulging from the top significantly relative to the other two, it's just not clear because of the way I photographed them. I took the picture at that angle because I was trying to show the text printed on the capacitors.

Cut the plastic off the top of them caps to make sure they are not actually bad. Also got images of all the boards ?

Yeah, as it turns out, both you and Nick were right, the capacitor looked fine once I cut the rubber top and took a look. I tweaked the Vscan a bit and it didn't fix my problem, about to check all the voltages with my multimeter. There are little pinholes on the board labeled "T-VS" "T-VA" and so forth. Do I test there, or do I have to wedge the probe where the power supply connects to the main board?

Bumping this up one more time, got a little distracted from the repair project. Like I said in the last post, since the capacitors turned out to be fine, I can only assume the voltages are out of range, or one of the components has gone bad. I want to test the voltages with my DMM, but I'm not quite sure where to jab the prongs! I took pics off all the boards and attached them to my last post, so hopefully the answer is obvious to someone.
