A Total Junker, --but hang on.....

I grabbed this set, a Samsung 42" 'B' series plasma from the scrap.

It was the worst condition set Ive Ever seen. Covered in mud, a bit wet, and generally disgusting. The panel however looked unbroken

Wiped the mud from the screen to show a Huge number of scratches--Really deep in the front glass--Like an ice-rink. The back cover was dented and scratched as if it had slid down a hill. Front bezel is chipped and gouged--Just horrible set...

Took back off--Didn't get much better inside. A forest of brown Nicotine dust and general Mankyness --Obvious this poor neglected thing had seen a Lot of service by very careless people...

Odd set, Has the smallest Y Ive yet seen.

Took it outside in the rain and spent quite some time removing the hideous mess from its guts. Back on the bench, checked the Vs line for shorts--None found, dried off the rain with the wallpaper-stripper

Thought might as well give it a try. Plugged in, fired up, connected antenna.....

Bloody thing works perfectly--It was even tuned in and switched to DTV, Not even a hint of Mal-Discharge or other weirdness. A good bright picture, Couldn't believe it.

Guess you could say--Dont judge a TV by its case!

He he I have a CRT TV I use to this day that originally had a very strong smell of nicotine coming from it. It went away eventually.
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

i had a tv from a turkish resturant in for repair once
the reported "fault" was the image was poorly focussed and looked dim.

i just sprayed the face of the crt with foam-cleaner and wiped off the dust and nicotene!!

Years ago I worked for a Co that had a few like this come in....

The Chief Tech at the time would clean--Half the screen, and send it back!
