    Diagnosing ELEFW-605 TV

I picked up a 60" Element brand TV from someone who was going to throw it away after it would not display a picture or sound anymore. I do not know if it was powered on when the display and sound went out or if they was watching tv/playing a game when it went out. But it went out this week and there was no storms so I do not think it could have been a power surge. The TV was purchased in July of 2014.

When the TV is plugged up, but not turned on it has a red led a the bottom, when the TV is turned "on" the light turns blue and it looks like the back lighting comes on as the screen gets brighter. There is no splash screen or anything displayed. I tried hooking up cable to the TV but there was no picture or sound either. The volume, source, and channel buttons do not seem to do anything except sometimes the back light will change brightness when the source button is pressed like there is different presets for the settings.

I have taken the back off, and from the screws it appears no one has been inside the TV since it was new. I inspected the capacitors to the best of my ability and none of them seem bulged or burst. The cables seem intact and plugged in good. From what I could tell on the boards I could see the back of all the solder seemed good.

I was no able to see the back of the power board, where the plug in line runs to, as there was a cardboard backing I was too afraid to pry off for fear of breaking something; and the control board, which I could not figure out how to fully get off. I do not have a remote to test the wireless inputs.

I have read on other websites that if the TV powers on but has no picture it could be the T-CONN board, but it could also be the power board.

I will attach pictures of the TV when it is powered "on" each of the boards, and the back of the digital, and T-CONN board.

I have basic knowledge of using a multi-meter, soldering and using tools, but this is my first component type repair. If you need anymore information in order to help me I will be happy to find it.

I will also attach an imgur album link just in case the attachments do not work. http://imgur.com/a/nka9V

Look for F100 32V 4Amp fuse on the T-Con Bd 9Top Left) and see if it is open when the power if OFF or if you are getting 5V (12Vdc) on both sides when the power is ON.

      Andrew,

I found the F100 fuse and put my multimeter on it, the reading zeroed out like it does when you touch the probes directly together. Does that mean that the fuse is good?

      thanks,
      Dalton

This happened last Saturday and today I finally had time this morning before I went to work to replace two non brand capacitors

I will let you be the judge weather or not these are bad or not according to the blue ESR meter that I am using

I am comparing them to a brand new one that I installed

The display came back on and the programming was not lost which I was surprised by I would have thought that when the display went blank that so did the memory as well

I going to let it run for several days before I remount back on the wall next to the...
