Not a tech question question but regards the tech of a TV

Looking at getting myself a new TV...

Been out of doing Tv's for quite some time now and have happily been using my Sanyo that i repaired many many moons ago... Time has come to get a new one (this and the fact I killed the LCD! LOL + repair on the panni SN board failed for another set I have here) but unsure which way to turn these days. So many crappy rebranded sets these days I don't want to make the wrong choice.

So what is the current most reliable and best quality manufacturer?

I have around £800 - £1000 budget so fire away your recommendations

    Cheers guys

Get a Pioneer Kuro Plasma or an Oled set most other tvs like Lcd and Led today are junk.

Ahh no I love fixing Plasmas haha Best go Oled then, self emissive displays like Plasma and Oled always give better image than Lcd.

I would check where they are being manufactured. I would tend to stay away from China. I would think Japan would be the best. Perhaps Mexico and Korea would be next and of course Germany or any European Union Countries. I just think China is just to new at all of this and it seems a lot of problem are created by that. If you are going to buy an expensive OLED I would get a 5 year warranty with it. You most likely will not need it but if you do it is worth a couple hundred dollars.

I suggest buying from a manufacturer where you can easily obtain service manuals and schematics so that if/when the TV breaks, you have a better chance of component level/cheaper repair.

I see Costco offers 5 year warranty on their TVs for the UK.
