    LG 50PZ570 Plasma

    Hi,

after 3 years my plasma TV is gone. I started some digging before send it to repair, even before I know that it I will come back to me.

The technicians just want to replace every single board in my TV. I can not see the point so I start the quest to fix it myself.

    First the symptoms.

It started with RCA, sometimes the image was gone but with sound, the power cycle fix it, or even changing TV source. So far so good.

After, HDMI faced solarized picture (negative picture like). Power cycle was handle it. Strange it may sound, the menu had perfect colors.

At least, no image more. When I power I can see the plasma trying to lighting but going dark after.

    The power source is ok.

The Y-sus is doing a smooth buzz noise.
Soon the tv enter in error mode the noise is different

I bought a new Y-sus, mounted it and worked fine for 10 minutes and again, the image is gone.

I asked for a EBR69839001 Y-sus and the seller send me EBR69839002. They were identical.

Some people told me to change Y-sus and Z-sus, but I read in this forum a person who made that and lost the two boards.

Well, I tested every cap with multimeter and the board shorts. Nothing found.

I can also identify a blinking error pattern in the T-con, but couldn't find the service manual.

I tried to remove the LVDS cable to check some picture or image and nothing.

Checked the buffers as well and nothing.

I have a scope and want to check with it, but I really need some guidance now. I did the basic which was possible with some reading. Now I need to get mad.

    Please, anyone?

Posting pictures of the back of your tv showing the boards with clear pictures may help you more with fixing your problem

      Re: LG 50PZ570 Plasma

I'm thinking it's a mainboard issue. Those ysus are not identical but very similar, running change with panels I'd say,

      EBR69839002 = PDP50R30111,

      EBR69839001 = PDP50R30000

        Check the TV pictures.
I can not explain why, but I do agree. I think it is the main board.

Can I look for the problem myself or it is better just replace it?
        I want to be sure.
I will read the service manual. Thank you.

        Any other suggestions are welcome.

Just went through Y-sus and Z-sus test, Check the results:

I need the experts now. Does it really means that there is a failure?
I also checked the Vsc on Y-sus B/D, but it unreadable. It is oscillating a lot.

I will pick a 100x probe and post the wave as well.

Readings look ok to me - if the devices were failed they'd read shorted. That's just a small variation on the spec.

there's nothing there that i see as an issue.

What is making the Vsc oscillating then?
I can not make a clear reading?

Wouldn't that be a Fet problem?

Maybe - but since you've found no shorted FETs, probably not.
Did you try checking without buffers installed?

I tried, I disconnected the buffer board and power the TV. Guess what?
Just got a visible spark coming from the PSU.

What the hell a did wrong?

Tried to power on, but no life at all. Power on and off after...

Now what? Can I fix it to?

In the PK series guide it states do not run the TV with the buffers disconnected. I suspect it's probably the same for this series too.

further into the guide it says
                      "Remove the Y-Drive
                      boards completely if these
                      connectors are removed or the
                      boards will fail."

                      further still,
"WARNING: The upper Y-DRIVE Board has to be
                      Removed Completely if
                      P117 is pulled."

                      "WARNING: The lower
                      Y-DRIVE Board has to be
                      Removed Completely if
                      P118 is pulled."

So if the connectors were disconnected but buffers still bolted in not sure of the final outcome but drive boards and ysus may now be fried.

so I'd check the buffers frst and see if shorted, if ok try the other ysus you have since i don't think it's the sustains but mainboard for the original fault

                        Really sad...

I checked for shorts and none were found in the buffers, but I did tried as tom suggested. Not good idea.

I live in Brazil and I'm having lot of difficulties to find the boards here. Do you guys know a provider that I can import?

If it is the main board, how to explain Vs oscillating?

                          Updates!

I checked and the Z-sus is gone!
I also checked the T-con and is ok.
                          Buffers ok.
                          Y-sus ok
                          PSU ok

Is there any way I can repair the main board?

                            Please, really need some help!

                            Replaced the main and Z-sus.

I now have some flickering image, but no image.

I can hear a loud buzz noise coming from Y-sus.

Looked over for another board without sucess.

                            Any one?

My 2001 Toshiba 50WP16 50" plasma TV has, after 20 years of trouble-free service, developed a wierd fault in the last 14 days during normal viewing - with no loud bang or smoke or any other excitement.

Every 15-30 secs the right hand half of the image has a "glitch" for about 1 second before reverting to normal. The glitch has two forms and also depends on the aspect ratio setting (see photos):
                              • 16:9 either a) a visible seam between LHS and RHS of impage or b) LHS image duplicated on RHS (photos 16x9)

                              Hello everyone,

I have an issue and didn't find any solution by myself or on every forum about my LG plasma TV 50PA4500.

Originaly the TV stopped to work and didn't want to turn ON again.

After visual inspection, few transistors were broken, I tried to change them but some burned again, so I ordered on full new board. So, I changed the Yboard which was burned by a new one

It now turns ON and the image and sound are present. But the image is very noisy and only visible when the room is in the dark.

I check Vs and Va voltages...
