    Toshiba 42" LCD WLT66

    Hi
    Hope someone can help.

Managed to pick this up relatively cheaply, as the seller said it sometimes takes a few tries for it to power on. However, upon trying it, it hasn't failed to start first time when I tried about a dozen times! Sounds good, but being a decent chap, I'd like to sell it on without the risk of the original 'fault' re-occurring' for a new owner. There are no caps that appear to be damaged, but I'm sure something is likely to be starting to fail.

Is there any known components that i should change to stop the fault from surfacing again? Sorry if it sounds a bit vague.

    Thanks in advance
    Les

Hi Les If I remember right does this set not have the one main power board as in your photo, but also two more one with the mains in and one with 24v+30v on feeding the two inverter boards, I think myself if I had that problem I would wait for it to fail again before selling, as it could be anything for it not to come out of standby (inverters /power board /main) the list goes on Flocko

Yes Flocko it does have two more sub power boards. The strange thing is that it hasn't failed to start. Guess I'll have to wait. Thanks for your reply.

A known common fault for this type of issue is the STR W6765 I.c,which seems to become unstable, particularly when cold. The big problem really is the heatsink it is screwed to,it isn't really large enough.

Forgot to add, which is why the i.c seems to fail, over a year or three.

There is also a fault with an IC on the HDMI board failing, it generates a low voltage rail for a processor. With it missing, the power light will not turn on. (And the set will act dead.)
