    Samsung ps42c450 clicking

    hi guys

been trying to fix this plasma tv
the tv is just clicking when you try and turn it on
,the only way i can get VS/VA voltages is by disconnecting the Ysus power attached in the pictures then i get 205volts/50 volts and the samsung start up chime.
The buffer board is fine no shorts so im suspecting its the Ysus ?

    thanks

What happens when you reconnect that and disconnect the X-SUS?

Y-sus feeds supply to the X.....

ok so replaced the Ysus today but still Vs/Va dropping
        Vscan is 12.2 volts
        Va 20.8 volts
        Va 3.1 volts
tried disconnecting the buffers board but still the same readings
tried disconecting the xsus still the same
led on control board is slowly flashing once every 3 seconds roughly

              Re: Samsung ps42c450 clicking

I would check Y-buffer for shorts.
X-main is a known issue with these sets.
If any boards are disconnected, whole set will shut down with fault code, so they can be tricky to diagnose.

This model has a known problem in that you need to change all the boards Y buffer/Y Sus and X Sus in one hit as one bad board will take out the rest and you will go round and round by trying to change one board at a time. the new Y Sus you have fitted will most likely be blown now. loads and loads of post on this model and the Bush that used the same boards do a search Flocko

thanks flocko yes i read about this but never connected the xsus yet but also read toms reply about how they all should be connected but im waiting on a few transistors for the xsus now, also buffer board tested no shorts but ill update the thread once i fit them

                    thanks

ok so changed the ysus and the xsus today but still getting no picture i have uploaded a video above

                      VS now 205 volts
                      VA 53 volts
                      VSCAN -194
                      VE 134 volts

what i have done so far:

1.tested buffer that has no shorts
                      2.tried adjusting the Yrr/Yfr
3.tested test patterns it tries to do patterns but very much as in video but different colours

the only thing different is i needed a RJH30E2 transistor on the xsus but only had a RJP30E2

RJP30E2 is this the right number? the only RJP30 IGBT I have stocked is the RJP30H and that has a built in high speed diode and could be your problem the RJH30E2 has no diode Flocko

thats the number flocko i have used in my xsus but i have since ordered a RJH30E2 which was the orignal one used in the xsus

Should be OK without a diode, it might fail while running, but should not affect the operation of the set, the diode is only there for protection reasons.

can i ask what should VE measure because on the panel label its got 0 but on the Ysus its 103 volts and the Xsus its 103 volts

changed a few transistors on the Ysus that was blown

103V is about right. Anywhere from around 80 to 120V. Always less than Vs.
