Samsung plasma TV PS58C6500 pink banding

    Hi guys,

can anybody help me and share me how I have to adjust the VS voltage of my Samsung plasma (PS58C6500)?

I have the known issue with it (pink banding on white images) and would like to adjust the voltage to correct it

this should be the right power board:

I found the potentiometer up right on the board but where should I measure the voltage?? I mean which pin
Is EY93 correct + any GND pin?

    Thank you!

Measure volts at the top right test point marked Vs, and put your black probe on the chassis of the TV, e.g. wall mount post (they are grounded) or back of plasma panel.

Adjust Vs to about 213-215V as necessary to remove banding issue.

      No need to adjust Va?

Do not touch Va. Adjusting that can permanently damage the plasma panel. Only adjust Vs.

No need to alter Va. You can (If you like) Check Va, but there would be no advantage in altering it.--Definitely NEVER increase the Va as this can kill the panel completely...

The Correct value for both Va and Vs would be marked on the paper tag on the rear metalwork of the plasma panel itself, usually top left-hand corner....

Alter the Vs Only--and Only enough to completely cure the problem--Don't be tempted to increase it--'just a little more'
          -just in case--
--Just enough is sufficient, and No more....

Too much Vs can cause extra stresses (Heat and wear) in the drive circuits and possibly damage panel too....

Voltage adjusted, ugly bands are now gone, only some little pink artefacts on very white pictures remain. Maybee I will increase it a little bit later. But the ajustment was very efficient.

              Thank you again

Re: Samsung plasma TV PS58C6500 pink banding

This is great info in thanks everyone. As you can see this is my first post, I have much the same issue as oesheutor, however I have the PS58C7000 it is about 4 1/2 yrs old and has the pink banding issue as well. I have a few questions I hope someone may be able to help with.

Are the voltages for the 7000 the same as that for the 6500?
And to remove the rear panel do I need to remove the TV from the stand?

A quick look it seems like the entire back panel comes off in one piece. If the stand needs to be removed is it safe to lay the TV down flat on carpet? I use to be an electrician so I have no problem with checking the voltage and such.

Off topic, do the LCD/LED TVs suffer the same problems, I am looking at upgrading in the near future when the OLED 4K TVs are released by Samsung, although I may have a look at the LG. However through circumstances I have about 12 pairs of Samsung 3D glasses.

Once again thanks for any help, this is great info did not find the fact on not adjusting Va on any other forum I searched.

                Regards

                Austin

#1 = Voltages displayed on the sticker at the back of the set.
#2 = Not sure but most likely
#3 = Yes just don't put pressure on the panel
#4 = LCD sets have different components.. See pink on an LCD assume its TCON or bad Panel

Re: Samsung plasma TV PS58C6500 pink banding

Plasma is better, bad panels are rare. Sadly, it's an extinct technology.
Not sure about OLED, but I expect OLED to behave more like LCD than anything else.

Re: Samsung plasma TV PS58C6500 pink banding

Just wanted to let you know that I fixed the pink banding issue on my july 2010 PS58C6500 tv by increasing the VS potentiometer a little bit. At first I was in doubt whether I was up to the task, but it was really very easy to do.
My tv hangs on the wall, so the stand was already removed. Removing the screws from the back panel and taking off the back panel was easy.

The power cord is connected to the power board, can't be mistaken. The VS potentiometer is located at the right upper corner of the power board. I did not measure voltages, with a small screwdriver I just turned the VS potentiometer to the right just a little. Then connected the tv to the power and hdmi again (computer showing an empty fullscreen notepad to display a full white screen) turned it on and it looked ok already! Put back the cover and hung it on the wall again. Took me less than an hour (cleaning and clutter included).

Thank you all for the information in this thread!

There is also a firmware update to the logic board for this issue.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

some other people have said adjust the Ve voltage. am i to assume this will fix the pink banding issue, and if so is this Ve a potentometer??, and is it on the Y-sus board. i thought i would ask before i take the back off the tv

The pink banding issue can be resolved by adjusting Vs and Vscan. But try Vs first.
