    Mitsubishi DLP WD-60735 Light Engine

I can't believe I am even asking about this...

I have sworn off DLPs (for the 7th or 8th time) but this Mitsubishi is in pretty nice shape..

It's got the white spots all over it which I know to mean it's a bad light engine..

I have always written them off as Light Engine replacements run in the several hundreds of dollars..

But I found a bare light engine (Tunnel Only) on Ebay for around $35....

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/MITSUBISHI-W...item19faec0074

    ....which makes me wonder.....

If this is all I need to fix it, it would make it worth it...

Anyone have any experience with DLPs that can tell me??

The fault is the DLP chip itself. ShopJimmy sell them. The light tunnel is fine.

The DLP chip has an array of micro mirrors on it controlled by small MOSFETs in a manner not dissimilar from a TFT LCD. What often happens is people install cheap aftermarket bulbs in these sets which emit high amounts of UV light, this light damages the micromirror TFTs causing them to get stuck in the ON or OFF positions.
Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!
