    Samsung LE40D503F7W display issues

    Hi

I have been given a Samsung LE40D503F7W to fix and I am really not sure what the problem is.

The TV comes on but there is blue and green hues on the screen which makes it very hard to see what is actually meant to be on the display at the time. The hues tend to move across the screen also with picture movement and then darkness on the screen follows on after a short while.

it seems like its a TCON problem but when I took the TV apart the TCON is attached to the bottom of the screen by two ribbon cables. I have managed to source a secondhand TCON board from a seller on ebay and I really want to find out please how can I detach and reattach the two ribbon connectors holding the board to the screen. I know my way around with a soldering iron and heat gun so that's not a problem.

please could someone help me out? Is it a simple fix?

Unfortunately it is very difficult to detach and reattach them -- potentially impossible. There are some users who have succeeded but it involves complex jigs which heat up the bondings and a microscope to re-align them. Not something you can do with a simple soldering iron I'm afraid.

These Samsung "D" series are truly terrible TVs for reliability - so many failures.

So what could be the next best move here? I read somewhere that one can put some kind of shims in place at the ribbon cables but I really wanted something more permanent. Is it possible for the TCON on these models to fail?

More likely it is the actual LCD panel, unfortunately, this would generally not be a repairable fault. Could you supply a photo of the fault, so we can be sure?

              You won't repair it

SM4109 make this symptom. It is easier to change it. To detach and reattach the two ribbon connectors holding the board to the screen you need to practice on a damaged LCD screen.
