Toshiba Regza plasma 46FR350U, sound no

Just got this--initially I got sound without a picture and some blinks, but I restarted and it began working. Screen has two areas of vertical lines, photos should show--dark, red top to bottom.

Any hope for the set or do we have a bad display and this is as good as it gets?

The thin lines are prob tab-bond issue--so effectively the panel....
