Samsung Plasma Display (50 inch) HP-S5033X/XAA |Video comes on/off (back on with hit)

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can give me an idea on how to repair my 50" Samsung Plasma Model HP-S5033X/XAA.

It works most of the time but a several times a day the video will go black but the audio still works. It will then sometimes flicker back on/off. If I hit the back of the TV the video will pop back on. Usually it will stay on for hours after this, for example it happened 6 hours ago and it's still working.

I'm hoping it's a loose wire/connection I could fix. Any ideas?

Hey, Fonzie, the easiest thing to do is to remove and reseat all cables and ribbons and see if that fixes the problem. If not you may have a bad solder joint but I have my doubt you can fix that with a good whack.

Also, take a screwdriver and make sure all screws that are holding on the various boards are tight as they are used as ground.

A common issue with this model is cold solder joints on some transistors.
You must repair the issue soon. If you do not, eventually some components on the power supply will be damaged, making the repair much more extensive, so for now, discontinue use of the TV.
