I have a new project. A samsung plasma PN50A650TIF. I set everything up to see what was going on with this tv. Tv works great for about 10 - 15min. then all hell breaks lose with the picture. sparklies , light and dark shadows, so much going on don't know how to describe, great sound. Set works perfectly for about 10-15 min. then it goes crazy. Samsung tech told me it was either x,y main board fault, but I heard these tv were famous for logic board fault, with A series tv's. Any suggestions on where to begin would be greatful. Voltages all seem to check out, however I did them in the begining while set was working fine. did not check while set was going crazy.

A picture of the fault could help...Also pics from the boards...
10-15minutes fine then crazy sounds heat related(cracked solder joint/temp sensitive component)
What you could try is take a hair dryer,and blow hot air on the boards,one by one,and see if you can get it to act up..That can tell you what board is doing it...
Also,if you have a can of air(pc cleaning etc) you can freeze the suspect area after heating it,by holding the can up side down and spray a bit...
Great way to zoom in on the bad spot..
Did you check if all the connectors are seated correctly? Especially around logic and main board?

There is a common issue with these and a particular tantalum capacitor on the underside of the main board can fail causing this.

Gentlemen, trying to figure out how to upload these pics, this may take awhile. I will try to get new voltages when picture starts to go bad. Will also try to get set to go bad by using hair dryer on boards one at a time.

Gentlemen, i can not get my pics to upload, using Manage Attachments, every time I go to upload my chosen file, after 3/4 of the download process, I get an error message saying web can not be found. can anyone help? I don't want my thread to stall, with no new info avaliable. I'll try later.

You can for now upload them to a website such as http://www.imgur.com/ and supply us the links. Imgur tend to be reliable and keep the files for a long time.

Martino, I did try the dryer with no effect. All voltages coming from power supply are correct per label.

Thanks Tom, any suggestions on where to go from here. Picture starts to have color bleed as well. red mostly, but hard to describe without pics.

Gentlemen, Going to try to upload these pictures today, again for the third time.Can't understand why this is not working for me. I was looking at these pictures, and they resemble Gamma IC problem. I have 9 photo's in my Album here, not all of them yet. Trying to get fault pics on now. thanks I'll get them here sooner than later.

Since your TV is a plasma, it would not be affected by a gamma IC problem.

I can now see the pictures.
To me, the fault looks like Y-main.

The Y-main is this board:

On it there will be a point marked VSCAN. Can you test this point on volts DC? Red probe on point, black on chassis as ground. It should measure similar to the panel rating, about negative 200V DC.

Tom, Thank you for taking the time to look at these pics. Hope they are showing for everyone now, as I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I left tv on for about an Hour today and another symptom appears, picture seems to get a little better with time, but starts to flash on and off steady. I will check that voltage and get back to you. Tom, I checked VSC. voltage My panel shows this to be -195v. My reading was -195.6 to.7 on startup. I waited about 10min when fault starts, and did it again, reading dropped to -130v's, and pulses between -130v to -110v. Picture flashes on and off, on and off, readings match this on and off pulse.
