    install different version Samsung motherboard

Hi, many Samsung TVs seem to use the same 96 pin connector to the panel scalar board and apparently for multiple generations the pinout seems to be identical. I have several KS series TVs, that work well, but e.g. do not support Apple Airplay. Has anyone ever tried putting a motherboard (with the same 96 pin connector) of a later model in, that would have new features ?

I doubt anyone will know for sure. I assume there are some boards that would work but it's going to be trial an error. You may have to switch eeprom since the tcon is built into the mainbord also to get one to work.

also these KS series use one connect boxes so there is no cutouts or space for mainboard with built in Inputs etc.

If you do try let me know how it goes. I have 3 of these as well (KS8000, KS8500 and the KS9000. One of the best Samsung TVs in my opinion short of the new Samsung OLEDs.

Hi, I had a GU58TU7199 TV, where a source COF starts to fail, so I was not worried about any damage the test could do. I have a MB from a GQ50Q60AA, which I had already thrown away, since it had a punctured source COF (someone apparently tried to open the TV and damaged the FlexPCB). While mechanically the two different MBs are very different, the connector for the power supply was identical and both had the 96 pin single FlexPCB to the panel scalar board. I connected the board and can see a picture. Did not do extensive tests, but first impression seems to indicate, that this works.

You can sometimes get these cheaper models to work with different main boards. I've had a few when a ru model would work with mu model screen.

Has to be the same manufacture though for the screens
