Got given this TV which would take ages turning on so as I suspected it had bad caps on the power board so fixed that and bingo it's working again apart from a cracked LCD? There was no mention of this and I was very careful transporting it home and also disassembling it could this be fixed or is it a case of a new LCD?

Doesnt look like a crack--but rather a fault in the LCD screen itself....
Not repairable apart from screen replacement....TELEFIX

yep bad screen, have a samsung here exactly the same but completely across the lower half of the screen
