If the PSU voltages are low when it stops, it could be a good idea. However main board failure is a lot more common on these.

If the PSU voltages are OK, then I suspect the main board is the most likely cause. Of course you should observe symptoms so check things like does the backlight go out? Video freeze? Sound go bad? Just narrow it down and see what the most likely cause of ALL of the faults is rather than any one particular fault.

Right been running for ages turned off the tv tried to turn on again but the standby light flashing 24volts was 15 volts 12 volts was 8.5volts then eventually turned itself back on
Hmm, well that would seem to point to a PSU problem; were those stable or jumping about?

Looks like CPC do NOT stock the req'd part which is annoying.
Please confirm value of CM808 in your board?

Should be a small box capacitor about 1" long near the yellow transformer.

Are you sure that is not a dodgy 18n print? Hard to tell....

It's amazing, I can't find the capacitor anywhere but some weird place in Greece, £5 for one cap is a bit steep... maybe have a look around in a few other places http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wima-0-018...item4158c16f7d

22nF is a lot easier to get hold of; if you want, you can try that first. Make sure it works on all modes and all brightnesses. 18nF could be penny pinching by Samsung or maybe it's important for matching the transformer, I do not know. The schematic says 18nF.
