Thank you. Which hardware is used with this software to perform the ISP functions? Is it the Mstar ISP tool?

How does this work to access the target memory devices? Is it over an industry standard of serial port use? (TX / RX lines) Does this not demand that the eMMC is operational with firmware before this interface can function? Also, will be very slow vs. using 4-bit or 8-bit eMMC commands?

    Found this video:

Ok. This is getting more and more interesting. So it appears this mSTAR ISP tool is based on the FTDI interface (found the need for the FTDI DLL use) which creates an USB to I2C master.

The communication is between the host PC and a mstar asic onboard the target machine. So does every TV have a mstar asic? Would Hisense have this as well?

      Found this DIY with RPI:

If you have an eMMC programmer, then solder wires to the isp points in 1-bit mode (GND-CLK-CMD-D0) and read or write the eMMC.

Sony/Hisense SoC is not MStar, but MediaTek.

Is there an ISP programming method and software available for MediaTek targets? I think we will focus on the parallel method approach which will be faster but still interested in these options. Learned a great deal today. Thank you all.

How did you get on with the T48? Does it work well with Sony Android tvs emmc? If you use a donor nand instead of dumping the original to a new chip how do you get on with the playstore and say apps like Netflix and the ID of the tv? Have you purchased any other emmc programera since. Some feedback around your experience would be really valuable as I'm trying to find out the same information you are of finding something that does the functions you need to work without paying for other functions you won't use or intend to use.

I am trying to learn on my own. I have the files but I wasn't successful in getting it to work back on the board. I tried twice and only used a heat gun. Unfortunately I don't know what I am doing and it's hard to read through material that I'm unfamiliar with. It definitely copied the file and definitely put a file on the EMMC as is said but unsure if it worked on not. Based on my poor heat gun abilities or corruption I just can't know. Sorry can't be more helpful. I also don't have any additional boards to mess with at the moment so I put it on pause.

Those apps though I'm pretty certain will not work. I guess it's hit or miss with your file.

                    Good luck

Thanks for that info. I'm guessing your talking a hot air gun station not just a heat gun? I guess a good way to maybe test if your dump is good is to get someone who's got an Easy Jtag plus to maybe check the dump by writing it to a board they have? There not much English based youtube videos covering this. I'd do a review of the different jtags if the companies sent me a sample.

Yes hot air station. Right, and who is willing to write it to a board they have... Couldn't really get any help on this so I kind of wrote it off for now.

What about asking Nick on youtube to do a review of different popular programmers and what works and what each programmers limits are for tv emmc reading and writing. 🙂 It will attract more people to his channel.

I've asked the question but if you could ask the same thing on that link on here to his video the more people who ask for the same type of thing will increase the chances of it happening.

Look under the comments in the link. I have asked and received a reply back from Nick. Hopefully we can get alot pf the questions you, I and others want to know 🙂. So far the T56 looks like the best value. I wonder what the T56 does over the T48?
