samsung le40b650t2 flickering standby led

hi there i am pulling my hair out well whats left of it
ref le40b650t2 i went to customers house to repair his tv, it worked out that it needed a replacement main board, as the user had plugged in his laptop connected through a faulty hdmi cable with a bent pin and the tv turned off straight away it had knocked out the main board Which caused it not to switch on

1) replaced main board (aresnal-chelsea) BN41-01167B(MP1.1)
result tv switched on but standby LED flickering constantly
2) orderd another main board same as above (just incase)
result same fault flickering standby led..
3) tested power supply all ok but ordered another just incase
result still flickering standby led
4) unplugged tcon
result standby LED still flickering..
(overview) cant press any touch panel buttons, remote works to the extenet of vol up/down channel up/down you have to keep the power button on the remote for a good few seconds before it powers off, no other function works inc source etc
i first thought there was another remote in the room but i shielded the infa/red reciever and led still flickers stroke pulses

could it be the touch switch assembly p/n BN41-01187A

any help is much appreciated

Try cleaning touch pads on that board - could be dirt contamination causing erroneous touches.

hi Tom just to make sure youre aware im not sure you can clean them as they are foam pads covered in that earthing metalic material

Yes I've had this issue before.
If they're anything like the ones on Vestel sets they are bare PCB with capacitive pads. They detect slight change in capacitance by finger. Any contamination between the PCB and the external plastic can cause a failure to sense or erroneous touch detect.

hi Tom66 and everyone problem solved!
it seems the guy when he plugged in his laptop with a faulty hdmi plug he took out his main board and the switch panel (resistance pad) type
replace the pad assembley it now works with the replacement and no flickering standby light ..............

hes next problem his virgin tivo box isnt working it comes up "starting up" and after 5 mins "no signal" still shows on the screen,
but thats not my problem

These TIVOs kill so many TVs! It is possibly surge damage from Virgin TiVo... think cable TV is a lot more vulnerable than satellite.
