The problem comes In cause it will not adhere two pieces together you need something with considerable forced to be pushing it against even the tape would probably need pressure to bond correctly.

Has anyone tried using that conductive paint used to repair windshield defrosters? It would be really tough to paint that fine of a line, but it might be possible using a single stiff hair as a brush.

Yes but that is pretty fine pitch when the ribbon contacts the screen. I'm pretty certain that no a tape of any contact typo fix that kind of problem. we have a better chance where the board connects to the ribbon.

Here's an interesting read. Apparently the pitch and spacing of the ribbon connections relative to the resolution of the conductive tape itself is a problem.

    Hi,

I have the exact same issue with my Samsung LCD. Searched everywhere and this is the only thread where someone is actually trying to fix this.

Can you please update on whatever you try and how it turned out. The contacts in one of my flex tabs are corroded but they all seem to be in parallel straight lines in my case. I'll be amazed if you manage to fix this. Good luck and please update.

From what I understand of this tape it works in parallel lines, you can see that the contacts have been eaten not only at the normal point at which they bond to the tab, but also up along the tracks too, now these tracks are not linear, they come in at all sorts of different angles and it's these that you will need to use to get this Tv working once more, it will be great to see it working again but your looking at a major headache, it will need a lot of work and probably a near impossibility but as I said before, you don't know till you try, good luck.

If you have continuity through it I would say it's the least of your problems.

Hi all, I'm still waiting for the tape to arrive. Have a question. What about the corrosion that's eaten up? do I need to do anything with that? or just try with the tape ?

Well, that's interesting, not seen buffer boards bonded to the panel in any LG/Samsung/Panasonic yet...

Here is an interesting read on this. A repair that was a success using 3m 9703 electrical contact adhesive. Maybe it can work!

I however am facing g a similar scenario with a 50 inch LG plasma. The ribbon had a hole worn in it. I pulled the cable from the screen and am trying to find a replacement.
I'll try my hand at this with the tape method as well. Anum22 keep us updated!

The difference I see between the two fixes is the BWM guy is actually using just simple old sticky tape to hold down that type of ribbon cable in place, the Ipod guy is using this special conductive sticky tape that the OP desires to use in this application. The tab bonds do require some level of mechanical strength where as the BMW fix looks to clamp firmly down with the four screws giving the mechanical strength required. I just see this becoming the infamous tab bond issue extremely quickly what with the heat variations that will go on, especially around the tabs, I would have to advise on some pressure over the areas concerned, plenty said here on how that's done.

I don't exactly know but I would guess that tape may not be suitable for an appication where the temperature fluctuates so much, an Ipod I'm sure is fine but in the back of a Tv, I'm not so sure. The way I see it is heat is used to remove sticky things, whether they be glass digitizers from phones, Ipads or ribbon tabs as he showed in that video, so if it does work, and because of the heat generated, I don't think it will last long if indeed it works at all but as ever, you have to try to see, so good luck, if you do go down this root it will be interesting to see and hear what the results are, Andy.
